After falling to the Chiefs in Kansas City last week, the Eagles play their first home game of the regular season against the New York Giants, who have problems of their own.

To recap, here’s where the staff stands after two weeks:

T1: Tyler, Tim, Bob, Kyle (2-0)

T5: Phil, Sean, Jim, Kevin K, Kevin L, Coggin (1-1)

11: Chris (0-2)

Our predictions for this week are after the jump:

Phil: So much is riding on this game for the Birds. The chance to go 2-0 in the division and the conference. The ability to bury the Giants in the standings, quite possibly for the season. The opportunity for Carson Wentz to put the season’s first loss well behind him. I know it’s the Giants and they’re supposedly going to be desperate. But it’s going to be a long and possibly painful afternoon for Eli Manning. Eagles 27, Giants 10.

Sean: Weeks 3-5 are crucial weeks in the NFL. That’s usually when teams that started poorly can either get things turned around or slide into oblivion like a hungover college student in an 8 AM calculus class. The Giants were embarrassed in consecutive weeks on national television and have been told all week that he Eagles pass rush will eat them alive. They are not a good team, but I don’t think they’re as bad as they’ve looked. They’ve got a good defense, great receivers and what once was a good quarterback. I think they will come to play this week and make things very tough on an Eagles offense that is struggling to find its identity. I see a tight and extremely frustrating game and I hope I’m wrong, but I see Giants pulling this one out in a disgustingly frustrating manner. Giants 24, Eagles 21.

Coggin: The Eagles should never be a touchdown favorite going up against anyone in the NFC East. Eagles win, but don’t cover. Eagles 24, Giants 20.

Bob: There’s nothing about this matchup that suggests the Eagles should not win this game. I’m aware that the Giants are desperate and that we can’t have nice things in Philadelphia, but I’ll roll with the Eagles’ defensive advantages and an improving Carson Wentz to get by the Giants. Eagles 27, Giants 19.

Kevin L: In a battle of two guys who may not be qualified to cut their own meat, let alone coach an NFL team, this game figures to get sloppy. The Giants have their backs against the wall, which makes for an uncomfortable spot to be in for the Eagles. But the Eagles coach finds himself in a precarious position of his own, as Doug’s play call balance has been the subject of debate all week which mitigates the Giants wounded animal position. The Eagles are the better team, and they are playing their home opener. Eagles defense comes to play, with 5+ sacks on the day to aid a depleted secondary along with a defensive touchdown. Wentz and Alshon cement themselves as a dangerous combo. Eagles 31, Giants 17.

Tim: At first, this game worried me. The Giants are 0-2, and they need a win. On paper, a banged-up Eagles secondary seems like easy prey for Eli Manning and a Giants’ passing attack looking to get back on track. But the Giants’ O-line will have no answer for the Eagles’ pass rush. Last week, the Chiefs tried to take the pressure off their quarterback in the second half with short and quick passes. Expect the Giants to do the same. It won’t matter. The Eagles are the better team right now. If they can avoid the costly turnovers that plagued them last week, the Birds will have enough to overcome a desperate division rival. Eagles 23, Giants 20.

Chris: The Giants look like total crap on offense. OBJ is still hurt, and Brandon Marshall has done nothing. I hope I didn’t curse them. On defense, their front four is solid, but after that, it’s meh. The big question is if Pederson can balance the run and get somebody going. I have a feeling we won’t see a ton of LeGarrette Blount again, so it’ll be up to either Wendell Smallwood, Darren Sproles, or Corey Clement to get that going. I see Zach Ertz going off as well. Eagles 31, Giants 17.

Tyler: The Eagles are coming off their first loss of 2017, but it was a very winnable game for the Birds. Luckily they return home to the Linc and face a New York Giants team that is in disarray. Despite the Eagles struggles in the running game, the offensive line, and being thin in the defensive secondary, the Eagles should easily win this game. Eagles 31, Giants 17.

Kevin K: I don’t believe in NFL “trap games,” especially when you’re playing a division rival. The law of averages says the Giants won’t as shitty as they were in weeks one and two, but their offensive line is a huge issue. The Eagles’ defense should make Eli Manning very uncomfortable. The x-factor for me is the dead horse topic of the week, which is whether or not the Birds can show more offensive balance and get the running game going. Eagles 27, Giants 17.

Kyle: This is very close to the line and I’m sticking with Vegas this week. This should be a low-scoring game. The Eagles’ defense is too good for a Giants offense and Eli Manning’s scared fucking face. However, the Giants’ defense is also better than it gets credit for and I think the Eagles will struggle to maintain their offense. And has there ever been anything more predictable than Doug Pederson coming out of the gate run for no gain, run for a loss, incomplete pass, than this game? The game will be uncomfortably close. Eagles 23, Giants 18.
