These two videos are from yesterday, but seeing as though roughly about 12 people watch each show, there’s a good chance you haven’t seen either yet.

People say “oh you shouldn’t give them any attention, this is the only thing that keeps them relevant” or “ignore them.” Fair. But as Bob said last weekI just can’t help myself. I get visibly angry when I see a Skip Bayless take, or certainly one from his padawan shithead, Nick Wright, who is somehow worse and slightly more punchable. They are doing it for this specific reason, but that doesn’t excuse the fact that they’re putting incorrect, poorly constructed bullshit forth for public consumption.

First up is dipshit Wright, who got himself some #fame last week when he said there were at least eight teams better than the Eagles.

Yesterday, he opined that they aren’t the best team in the NFC:

Nick Wright: “There are going to be a lot of people today talking about exactly that– the Eagles are the best team in the NFC. There’s another team in the NFC that has nearly an identical profile to the Eagles, that has a second-year quarterback who was taken one spot ahead of Carson Wentz, who has a lot of the same factors that no one will be talking about, that also by the way yesterday put up 51 points on their opponent, that no one is going to be talking about them as the best team in the NFC, and that’s the Rams… the whole reason the Eagles are elevated like this is because they are the one one-loss team in football, and that’s just not how I’m gonna do this math, CC. Like they’re a really good team, no doubt. But are they clearly the best team in the NFC? Not to me, no.”

Cris Carter: “OK, so who’s better than them?”

Nick Wright: “I think there’s a lot of teams who can be better than them.”

Cris Carter: “List them then, because we only got so many teams, we got 16 teams in the NFC. List them.”

Nick Wright: “I think the Eagles are…”

Cris Carter: “Don’t do no mental gymnastics– list them. List them.”

Nick Wright: “I don’t think there is a clear-cut best team in the NFC.”

Cris Carter: “OK, what about the Cowboys?”

Nick Wright: “The Cowboys I think are as good as Philly.”

Cris Carter: “Jenna asked, are they best team in the NFC.”

Nick Wright: “I think the Cowboys are as good as Philly. I think the Vikings are as good as Philly. I think New Orleans is as good as Philly. I think the Rams are as good as Philly.”

Meanwhile, Bayless criticized Carson Wentz for Nick Foles’ fumble:

I actually respect Bayless in a weird way. This is his shtick and he’s good at it. He’s part of a generation of take artists who rose to prominence on the back of the cable bundle. He became relevant solely because he was there. But Wright infuriates me more because he’s trying to replicate the model in a day and age where it is no longer needed. If his take would have just been that the Eagles may be out ahead of their skis or playing out of their fighting weight, then that would’ve been one thing. I’d even argue that there’s a possibility the Cowboys or, specifically, the Rams may be just as good. But his false extolling of power rankings is downright absurd. We have to be a little discerning between who has the best record and is the best team. THAT IS LITERALLY WHY THEY PLAY THE GAMES! That is sports. The beauty of them is that you reward the teams who win. And for better or worse, the Eagles will get to play the Cowboys, Rams and Seahawks so we can truly find out who the best team is before the playoffs. Like this whole argument is moot because THEY WILL LITERALLY FUCKING PLAY EACH OTHER. And his comment about thinking Denver would give them a tougher game should tell you all you need to know about subjective observation seeing as though the Eagles curb-stomped the Broncos. And then Wright gets on to comparing Wentz and Goff and just casually dismisses the fact that Wentz has 10(!) more touchdown passes. I can’t take it anymore. I’m hate blogging Wright from now until the end of the season. Right in the nose.
