Just like Donald Trump, the Wizards needed the Wall last night. Washington, sans-John Wall, fouled their way back into the game, but the Sixers held on to win, 118-113. With the victory, the Sixers are now on pace for 48 wins this season.

Joel Embiid had 25 points in his 32 minutes, and Ben Simmons had 31 as a result of being fouled for basically the entire fourth quarter.

Here are Embiid’s shining moments from last night via the Sixers:

The Sixers face the Celtics tonight at 7:30pm. Embiid won’t play as he is still not playing back-to-backs.

Let’s go.

The Roundup:

Keeping with the Sixers, the team announced a new fieldhouse in Wilmington:

Set to open in the fourth quarter of 2018, 76ers Fieldhouse will serve as home to the Philadelphia 76ers’ NBA G League affiliate team beginning with the 2018-19 season. The 76ers NBA G League affiliate team – which will be rebranded next year, pending league approval – will play its home games at 76ers Fieldhouse, configured to host approximately 2,500 fans per game.

Boasting three full-size professional basketball courts, two indoor turf soccer fields, a world-class sports performance and athletic training area, as well as retail and office space, this dynamic new facility will also serve as a beacon for youth sports in Delaware.

Over the years of the tanking, many postulated about Lebron coming to Philadelphia, now that idea doesn’t seem too far fetched:

If James, who can become a free agent after this season, decides to leave the Cavaliers, he could – and should – consider the 76ers, and executives around the league believe Sixers president of basketball operations Bryan Colangelo will attempt to sign James. The Sixers are an intriguing possibility, and if James’ goal remains competing for championships and Cleveland is no longer the place, the Sixers can make a compelling case.

The Eagles are flying high, and according to the sports books, are getting more likely to win the Super Bowl:

The Eagles-Rams game won’t be flexed, stays at 4:25pm.

The Players Coalition, led by Malcom Jenkins, has dissension in the ranks with players leaving the organization. Our Kevin Kinkead has more.

The Flyers, thankfully, have a few days off as the team is in the midst of a nine-game losing streak. The team held a closed door meeting after the mosts recent setback, that apparently shook some people in their boots, according to our Anthony SanFilippo:

First, there was a closed-door team meeting called by captain Claude Giroux. Why it took nine games for this to happen is beyond me, but hey, it finally did. The levee finally burst. And from the look on the faces of a number of young players, it wasn’t pretty.

Guys took forever to get out of their uniform.

Nolan Patrick sat in stunned silence in the corner of the room, just staring blankly forward. It took Travis Konecny to go over to him, put an arm around his shoulder and whisper some words of encouragement for Patrick to finally move, get out of his gear and exit the locker room.

This was after two other players had held their media scrums. Two. Giroux and Andrew MacDonald, the latter of which talked at length.

Read his entire piece, linked above. It’s worth the time and sums up the current state of the team well. The Flyers return to the ice on Saturday at 1pm against the Bruins.

Normally non-sports news is saved for the end, but this was a bombshell. NBC News fired Matt Lauer on Tuesday night for “inappropriate sexual behavior.” The Crossing BroadCast has LIVE reaction to the news and Kyle dove deeper into the news and the fallout for Today and the media landscape.

Later in the day more details and stories started to surface, including a video from TMZ that got Lauer commenting on Meredith Vieira’s ass on a hot mic. Additionally, Variety published a story with stories from several victims:

As the co-host of NBC’s “Today,” Matt Lauer once gave a colleague a sex toy as a present. It included an explicit note about how he wanted to use it on her, which left her mortified.

On another day, he summoned a different female employee to his office, and then dropped his pants, showing her his penis. After the employee declined to do anything, visibly shaken, he reprimanded her for not engaging in a sexual act.

This will only get worse with more details coming out as another big figure, maybe the biggest of all the media personalities, falls.

ESPN officially announced the rumored layoffs, but seems to spare on-air personalities this time around.

The Philly lacrosse franchise announced it will be named the Wings, as it should be.

Former Eagle and current ESPN analyst Herm Edwards is on the brink of becoming the new head football coach at Arizona State.

Meanwhile, Tennessee still does not have a coach, but wanted Purdue’s Brohm:
