The Sixers officially released their City uniforms, and as I’ve been telling you– they’re breathtaking:

Here’s how the Sixers describe them on their microsite conveniently named “76 x StubHub” (subtle):

The Philadelphia 76ers and StubHub proudly celebrate the experience of live moments that never fade away.

Inspired by the 1776 signing of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia, with its parchment color and the “Phila” lettering in “signature” script, the City Edition celebrates the revolutionary spirit of the city of Philadelphia. The trim features crisp red, white and blue stripes. The “76” on the side of the sorts was inspired by the Bi-centennial celebration held in Philadelphia in 1976 in honor of the 200th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

This is our nod to the people of this great city who’ve been in it for signature moments since the very beginning.

Honestly, these are everything a uniform should be– classic looking, invoking city heritage, with some modern flair. Some people thought these looked boring in the NBA 2K18 leak, but I mentioned at the time that I had seen them and that the image didn’t do them justice. Could the Sixers be a little more adventurous in their design aesthetic? Sure, but that could be accomplished with maybe a nod to the Barkley-era jerseys next year or something. I think they have stuck the landing on basically everything they’ve done with their uniforms and branding so far. They are positioning themselves to be the team in a few years if the Process fully comes together, and there will be no greater satisfaction than having kids in San Francisco walk around wearing classic Philly colors, which offend no senses and will appeal to casual basketball fans. Some teams are certainly having fun with their alternate uniforms, but none of those designs will hold up over time the way every current Sixers uniform will. These are damn near perfect.

The parchment color will stand out on the Sixers’ blue court (the light-colored jerseys look better than the blue ones at home because they contrast better with the blue court.) They will debut these on February 2 against the Heat on ESPN. They will then wear them for all Friday home games and all home games in April for the rest of the season.

More pics after the jump.
