This is life and life sucks.

Our biggest fear was confirmed by Doug Pederson on Monday. Carson Wentz has as torn ACL and is done for the year. Now a team that was poised for a trip to the Super Bowl is in the hands of Nick Foles with Nate Sudfeld as QB2.

Wentz posted a video of his own on Twitter, with a more positive reaction to the situation:

He will be having surgery this week.

Despite all of this, Wentz is keeping a positive mindset, even on the plane ride home:

If Foles doesn’t tickle your fancy, Jeff Garcia made his pitch for a return.

Our BWanksCB, in a bit of writing brilliance and intoxication, writes if the Eagles are to win a Super Bowl, this way is the only way:

I wanted it to be easy, but I know, you know, we all know that if the Eagles are to ever win the Super Bowl, they aren’t going to do it as a wire to wire machine that steamrolls the competition on the way to a championship. That’s just not how it goes here. You know it will have to involve a crippling loss, fear, misery, Paxil and gratuitous amounts of alcohol. The Eagles are meant to do it as an underdog because, you know, #Rocky.

The latest Crossing BroadCast dropped on Monday morning and talks about the torn ACL hear around the world.

On terrestrial radio, a caller had an emotional breakdown live on WIP.

This is certainly less than ideal, but we as fans have to put the faith in Nick Foles because well…we don’t have another choice. However, he may be learning from the best on how to take over a team late in the season and win:

So, yes, I’m saying there’s a chance and so is Cris Carter:

Let’s go.

The Roundup:

Sticking with the Birds and injury news, Doug Pederson also revealed in his Monday press conference that rookie Sidney Jones is now cleared to practice, but lineman Stefen Wisniewski is day-to-day with an ankle injury.

Our Kevin Kinkead has his observations from the NFC East clinching win:

I regret using the term “Pyrrhic” in my Week 1 story and should have saved it for this game instead, because the term really can’t be defined any better. The cost of the win makes it feel like a wash. It seems pointless to talk about nine other takeaways when Carson Wentz suffers a serious injury, but we’re just gonna have to suck it up and move on with our lives.

Week 14 in the NFL wrapped up with the Dolphins snapping the Patriots winning streak on Monday Night Football.

Monday Night Football is easy to stream with the ESPN app, but now you can watch it on Yahoo’s app starting in January, along with other national games:

The National Football League and Verizon announced today a multi-year partnership in which Verizon’s portfolio of premium digital and mobile media properties, including Yahoo Sports, will stream in-market and national games, including national pre-season, regular season, playoff games, and the Super Bowl nationwide to sports fans – regardless of mobile network. The partnership kicks off in January 2018 with streaming of the NFL playoffs on Yahoo and Yahoo Sports, in addition to go90 and the NFL mobile app.

As a viewer you now are in more control of where you can watch NFL games, but golf viewers have less control now as the USGA nixed the rule that allows viewers to call in rules infractions:

Beginning Jan. 1, 2018, tournament officials will no longer field or consider your call-ins as part of rules decisions. All video reviews will be handled by one or more tournament officials assigned to the task.

“The message we’re putting out to fans is, What you’ve seen, we’ve seen. Have confidence in us running the event,” said Thomas Pagel, USGA senior director of rules and amateur status. “We want you to be a fan. Enjoy watching the world’s best players. Let the rules be handled inside the ropes between the players and officials.”

In a somewhat cool move, especially for ESPN, the Worldwide Leader presents Philadelphia All-Access on Friday as it goes all-in on the Sixers:

ESPN today announced it is dedicating a full day of coverage to the Philadelphia 76ers in a special content initiative called Philadelphia All Access on Friday, Dec. 15. ESPN will air Sixers-related content throughout the day across ESPN platforms, including SportsCenter, ESPN Radio, First Take,ESPN.com, ESPN social media, and more. Philadelphia All Access will culminate with ESPN’s national telecast of the Sixers vs. the Oklahoma City Thunder game at 7 p.m. ET. The telecast will be exclusively on ESPN in the Philadelphia market. All of ESPN’s Philadelphia All Access coverage will also be available via the ESPN App.

Monday was a busier day on the Hot Stove for the Phillies as the team reportedly signed Pat Neshek back to a two-year deal, worth 16.25 million. Also, the team lost OF Cam Perkins, who was claimed off outright waivers by the Mariners.

Additionally, the Phillies are interested in Manny Machado and the Orioles are interested in their interest:

Teams continue to check on the availability of third baseman Manny Machado and closer Zach Britton. I was told this afternoon, and it’s part of the buzz inside the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort, that the Phillies are one of the more interested parties and the Orioles have been doing their homework on the club’s farm system in case talks become serious.

The Orioles covet Dominican right-hander Sixto Sanchez, according to sources, but he’s the Phillies’ top pitching prospect and may be untouchable.

LaMelo and LiAngelo Ball sign to start careers in Lithuania.

NFL Network employees, including Donovan McNabb, are being named for sexual harassment…more on that from CB in a bit.
