I have a friend who used to chat up every young woman at the bar in mostly embarrassing fashion.

The first 99 would usually tell him to take a hike. But the 100th woman usually went home with him, and so it really didn’t matter that the 99% had to say, it was the 1% that really mattered, sort of like the American economy.

heyo!

Anyway, Nick Wright is going down this same path. The First Things First host has basically been slagging the Eagles all year, willing to be wrong 99 times if he gets the last laugh.

He was at it again this morning:

“The Vikings have, throughout the season, shown you that they can win football games against really good teams with just mediocre quarterback play. The Eagles have not shown me that. The Eagles have not shown me that they are a great team with mediocre quarterback play. They, to me, have only looked like a great team when they’ve had great quarterback play.”

Huh?

Nick Foles has only played three full games this year. The Eagles are 3-0 in those games. So… does that mean they can be a “great team with mediocre quarterback play?” I don’t know if those performances were “great,” but they won all three of ’em, so I guess that counts for something.

And Keenum was dog shit in two of his first three starts (both losses), then really found his footing to put together a great season. It’s probably a fallacy to even say that Keenum was “mediocre” this year. He was excellent in the wins at Atlanta, at Detroit, and home to Los Angeles, with five touchdowns, zero interceptions, and quarterback ratings of 100, 117, and 121. Minnesota, even with their top-ranked defense, wasn’t exactly winning in spite of Case Keenum, he was part of some well-rounded team performances.

Right.

I mean, both squads are bringing backup quarterbacks to the NFC Championship Game, so I think that pretty much tells you all you need to know about how “great” they are.
