While Philadelphia and the ‘burbs prepare for the greatest parade in the history of sports, the once-dominant Patriots and their egotistical, obnoxious, nauseatingly pretentious shell-shocked fans continue to lick their wounds. As someone pointed out to me today, New England is 0-3 in the last three Super Bowls in which Eli Manning makes an appearance*:

*Then again, it’s easy to choreograph a dance when you haven’t been relevant since the fourth preseason game.

We knew the fans wouldn’t take it well, but what did this couch ever do to the crowd of roughly 2,000 people who grieved together at UMass Amherst?

That led to a statement from the university condemning the actions of students who apparently threw smoke bombs and firecrackers. In all, 6 people were arrested, while 12 were taken to the hospital.

I don’t think the Boston Herald is thrilled with the Patriots’ coaching two days after the fact:

The Herald isn’t the only paper with a target on Belichick; the Globe’s Dan Shaughnessey eviscerated the head coach in his column:

How are you feeling about your coach today, Patriots fans?

Still got “Do Your Job” and “No Days Off” tattooed somewhere on your body? Still blissfully living the life of “In Bill We Trust”? Still applauding the coach for giving the media the finger every time we ask Bill Belichick a football question? Still believe his decisions are none of anybody’s business?

I sense a crack in the blind loyalty the Hoodie traditionally receives from Patriots Nation. The Patriots lost a very winnable Super Bowl Sunday night in some part because Bill benched cornerback Malcolm Butler for some undisclosed infraction or violation of the Patriots code.

We don’t know the reason, of course. No one will say anything. Bill and his stooges (yes, that means you, Matt Patricia) are still parsing out the bogus company line that Butler’s benching was a football decision.

While the Malcolm Butler situation appeared to go fully off the rails, the player made a statement today:

Mike Lombardi, the man who once spewed the following hot mess…

… now admits he was wrong about Doug Pederson. On the The Ringer NFL Show immediately following the Eagles’ upset of the Patriots, he said the following:

https://art19.com/shows/the-ringer-nfl-show/episodes/977f70ab-07d1-48a2-ac5d-72bbc22f02d1

“I’ve apologized to Pederson and I’ve admitted I was wrong. They did a great job of calling plays and keeping them so unpredictable. ” (22:30)

“If you didn’t know, now you know: I was wrong about Doug Pederson. ” (35:28)

Mike was complimentary of the Eagles, especially the play of QB Nick Foles.

“This game, I just think [the Patriots] never had control… they were beaten by a team today that was their worst nightmare.” (16:10)

“ I don’t know how much better [Wentz] could have done.” (22:10)

In his “No Bull” segment, Lombardi had some more praise for the Birds and hate for the Pats:

“This has to be the worst patriot defensive effort of any Super Bowl”

“[The Eagles] knew field goals weren’t going to win this game. They were going to win this game, and that’s what they did.”

“Nick Foles is one Super Bowl win away from having the Eli Manning argument that he belongs in the Hall of Fame.” (Joking)

But the REAL highlight was when Lombardi absolutely bastardized the lyrics – RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM – to “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air”.

Nailed it.

Bonus: A great job of trolling, courtesy of John Hilliard, J.D. Capelouto and Jeremy C. Fox of the Boston Globe.

Ryan Schmit, 23, a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan, said watching his team’s hated rivals lose was refreshing, he said.

“Just to see you guys fail means everything,” he said, wearing an Eagles jersey he said was intended to troll Patriots fans. “Bills fans are taking this as a win.”

Someone buy that man a beverage.
