The baseball should be better at Citizens Bank Park this season and the food might be, too.

Aramark, the food and beverage supplier of eight MLB teams, released today its newest menu items that can be found at its partner venues in 2018.

From the company’s press release:

‘Food has become a major player in the fan experience and that increased role is a motivating factor for us to continue to enhance our menu offerings each season,” said Carl Mittleman, President of Aramark’s Sports and Entertainment.’

And that makes sense. It’s important to have a high-quality selection of items available for fans to soak up the copious amounts of tailgate and in-game beers they will consume. So, Phillies fan, what new items can you pair with those beers? Let’s have a look.

(note: food descriptions are those of Aramark and are italicized)

If you’re going to knock back some Coronas in the Jetro Lot, may I suggest the Smoked Brisket Taco Trio,
a blend of house smoked brisket topped with jalapenos, cilantro crema, queso fresco and sliced radishes, in corn tortillas –

The tacos should serve as a quality base. A filler, but not a sinker. I would advise eating during the early innings just in case Mexican cuisine works its way through you quickly. You don’t want to miss a late-inning Rhys Hoskins homer because the jalapenos tore you up.

If you’re looking for a new sandwich option, there’s the Crispy Chicken Sandwich: fried chicken topped with tomato bacon jam, roasted shaved Brussells sprouts and Vermont white cheddar cheese, on a brioche bun.

I would consider this just for the Brussells sprouts. Not that I particularly like them, but most of my nutritional needs are met through taking a daily Flintstones gummy vitamin. If I’m going to mix in the occasional vegetable, I might as well do it with fried chicken and cheese.

For you vegans out there, you can try the Vegan Cauliflower Cheesesteak: roasted cauliflower, poblano peppers, onions, vegan cheese sauce and vegan roll.

Vegan cheese sauce? Say no more. If I didn’t consume at least 3,000 calories, did I even go to the game? It’s gonna’ be a no from me.

After you’re done with your main course, or courses, you can cleanse the pallet with some Jane Dough Cookie Dough: gourmet edible, small batch cookie dough, available with or without soft serve and toppings

Sounds good, but if you plan to add the ice cream element, well, let’s be honest–it’s a risky play. It’s like Ron Burgundy regretfully said in Anchorman, “Milk was a bad choice.” If your day began in the lots with 13 beers, I highly suggest going straight dough.

Enjoy.
