All but one reported Eagle move was confirmed by the team.

From Wednesday’s press release:

  • Acquired DE Michael Bennett and a 2018 seventh-round pick from Seattle in exchange for WR Marcus Johnson and a 2018 fifth-round pick
  • Acquired CB Daryl Worley from Carolina in exchange for WR Torrey Smith
  • Agreed to terms on a one-year contract with LB Corey Nelson

The only thing yet to be confirmed is the rumored Haloti Ngata signing, and that’s because he had to pass a morning physical down at NovaCare, according to Baldy:

The defensive tackle played five games with Detroit last year before going on injured reserve with a torn bicep. He’s 34 years old and entering his 13th NFL season.

I mentioned in a previous article, maybe last week or something, that Ngata played most of his career as a nose tackle in the Ravens’ 3-4 system. He started playing 4-3 when he signed with the Lions back in 2015.

With the Birds starting Fletcher Cox and Tim Jernigan on the inside, Ngata essentially fills the spot vacated by Beau Allen. But the addition of end/tackle hybrid Michael Bennett allows the Birds to mix up their line looks a bit more and probably means that Ngata would not be asked to play the 400+ snaps that Allen saw last season. Keep that in mind if you’re wondering whether or not this guy is washed up. He’s been an excellent run-stuffer for years and might have a bit more in the tank.

First, gotta pass that physical. It’s Ngata done deal, yet.
