With the playoffs quickly approaching, the Sixers find themselves in a unique situation. They’re pretty much a lock to make the postseason.

That means the team won’t be playing against below average squads such as Brooklyn or Atlanta, but top-half teams like Toronto or, in last night’s case, Indiana. If the playoffs began today, the Sixers would face the Pacers in the first round.

The Sixers can’t make many mistakes in the playoffs, and they did just that in a 101-98 loss to Indiana. The team committed 21 turnovers, with the Pacers outscoring the Sixers in points off turnovers 29-12.

Ben Simmonds had his seventh triple-double with 10 points, 10 assists, and 13 rebounds while Joel Embiid put up 29 points and 12 rebounds for his 34th double-double of the season. Robert Covington also notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Dario Saric cooled off a little with 18 points, but is still shooting well above his season average in his past 10 and 15 games.

The Sixers look to get back on track with a back-to-back against New York teams. They’re at MSG to take on the Knicks Thursday night before meeting Brooklyn for the second time in the past week at home on Friday.

Today marks the beginning of the 2018 NFL season with Free Agency officially kicking in at 4 PM. Monday began the legal tampering period, but things got interesting yesterday for the Eagles.

First, Howie Roseman made some significant cap room by restructuring Lane Johnson’s salary. He’s still making the same amount of money, but his base salary is now $790,000. It looks like Michael Bennett’s contract will be restructured as well:

Trey Burton is out, and Haloti Ngata is in (or we think).

Burton was a little disappointed about not getting any contract offer by the Eagles. But he did post this message on his Instagram:

The Instagram messages didn’t stop. Beau Allen did the same:

Long-time Eagle Brent Celek was released after 11 seasons in Philadelphia. Zach Ertz posted this message:
