Rookie mini-camp got underway on Friday.

For starters, the Eagles confirmed the list of undrafted free agents that are with the squad:

Adams, the Notre Dame running back, is the most significant name on that list and will compete with Matt Jones, Wendell Smallwood, and Donnel Pumphrey for a roster spot behind Jay Ajayi, Corey Clement, and Darren Sproles.

Doug Pederson spoke to the media just before noon and here are some notes/quotes from his availability:

  • short offseason, named Jay Ajayi, Nick Foles, Fletcher Cox, and Malcolm Jenkins specifically as guys who came back ready to go
  • voluntary program, they’ve “been in touch” with veterans and other guys who are missing, vets “know how to get themselves prepared.” Not worried about Pro Bowl players coming back and being able to help right away
  • Markus Wheaton and Richard Rodgers are “veteran players that just give us more depth, give us competition, makes us better. I’m excited to start OTAs in another week and see what they can do for us.”
  • no timetable on a return for Tim Jernigan, haven’t thought ahead RE: plans on what to do if he’s not ready for the season opener, haven’t put roster together yet
  • won’t get into specifics on what happened to any injured player
  • On Carson Wentz:  “highly encouraged where he’s at right now. He’s making progress each day and we just continue that process. He continues to throw and get stronger. It’s a fine line, too, with just this time of year of maybe trying to do too much, too soon. But our guys are on top of it and he’s on top of it. He’s managing extremely well and again, encouraged where he’s at.”
  • Wentz is not cleared to do anything yet and will continue his rehab, not going to “rush” or “expose” any injured players
  • no joint practice currently planned yet for training camp
  • haven’t thought ahead to travel arrangements for Dallas and Los Angeles back-to-back road games
  • QB Joe Callahan is coming from a similar offense, want to give him time and reps and let him be another arm through OTAs and possibly training camp
  • declined to talk about his contract extension
  • on Adams:  “tremendous athlete. He’s big. He’s a powerful guy. Obviously, he’s limited a little bit right now injury-wise, but I’m excited for this kid. Great opportunity for him to be around the type of backs that we have, the leadership that’s in that room with Duce and then we get him going in training camp.”
  • Donnel Pumphrey has “done a great job just being patient, rehabbing, and getting himself physically ready. He’s done a nice job this spring so far and he’s one of the young kids that we look forward to in OTAs of giving him some opportunity to be successful.”

Here’s the Doug video for all y’all out there:

That’s about it. I don’t there’s much else to report. It’s rookie mini camp.

If you do want to see Dallas Goedert and some of the other dudes running around doing light drills and catching footballs, here’s 28 minutes of that:

Oh yeah, they added some things around the building:

Time’s yours.
