No need to panic, said Kyle in one of his posts right after Game 2.

The Sixers needed to adjust to Boston’s coverage of Ben Simmons, including seeing Al Horford on the rookie a lot more.

Game 3 may have been the most important in Ben’s career, although Kyle digressed.

In the end, we’re not panicking anymore. They kind of made adjustments (putting Simmons and T.J. McConnell together) and Simmons played better in Game 3.

But the team made some crucial mistakes down the stretch and lost the game in overtime.

Joel Embiid led the Sixers with 22 points and 19 rebounds while JJ Redick scored 18 points but committed three turnovers. Ben Simmons had 16 points, 15 more than his Game 2 total, along with eight rebounds and eight assists. He also had a team-high four turnovers.

Game 4 is tonight at 6 PM. It feels like it’ll be the end of the season as well, unless Robert Covington goes off (he needs to). The team thinks it’s not the end.

Elsewhere, the Sixers may lose assistant coach Lloyd Pierce to the Hawks.

The Roundup:

We saw the best of both worlds from the Phillies this weekend. After losing 7-3 to the Nationals on Friday, Rhys Hoskins woke up from a long slumber with a two-run home run to lift the Phils to a 3-1 win on Saturday.

And then yesterday’s game. It looked like the Phillies would lose in part due to Max Scherzer’s 15 strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings. But he threw 111 pitches in that span and the Nats went to the bullpen, allowing the Phils to take advantage with a three-run seventh inning, adding another in the eighth, bringing a 4-1 lead to the bottom of the eighth.

But the bullpen fell apart in the bottom half of the inning before Hector Neris blew his second save of the season en route to a 5-4 crushing loss. A win could’ve given the Phillies a tie for first in the NL East. So that’s grand!

They’re back tonight at home as they host the Giants at 7:05 PM on NBC Sports Philadelphia. Zach Eflin will take the mound.

New tight end Dallas Goedert reminds Jimmy Kempski of Greg Olsen:

When Olsen was a rookie in 2007, tight ends with potential to make an impact in the passing game weren’t as common as they are today. As such, a player like Goedert lasted until the 49th pick, when he would have been more of a rare commodity 10-plus years ago.

This may sound lofty, but the expectation here is that Goedert will have a more productive career than Olsen when it’s all said and done. For his career, Olsen averaged a stat line of 58-687-5 per season. I believe that Goedert has the hands, athleticism, YAC ability, and route running skills to become a Greg Olsen-like receiver, with a higher ceiling.

Nolan Patrick is ready for a full summer of offseason training:

“I’m just excited to be able to move,” Patrick said. “I couldn’t even run last summer. I only had about a month last summer to train, so I’m really excited to take a couple weeks off and then get after it. It’s going to be some tough work but I’m excited for it.”

Aside from moving and getting stronger, Patrick wants to focus on his shot this offseason while working with his skills coach. Last summer, so much was just about getting on the ice and being prepared enough for training camp.

Once Patrick started gaining back his mobility post surgery and following a nine-game absence because of a concussion, the big-bodied center turned it on, solidifying his role as the team’s second-line center and joining the first-unit power play.

The Flyers signed Czech forward David Kase to an entry-level contract. He’ll probably play with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms next year.

Speaking of the Phantoms, they’re tied in their playoff series with the Charlotte Checkers at one game each.
