Well this sucks. But all good things gotta come to an end.

It was a hard-fought series for the most part, excluding Game 1, but the Sixers came out on the losing end of a series against the Celtics, ending their season with a 114-112 loss.

Similar to what we’ve seen in this series, the Sixers’ shooters of JJ Redick, Marco Belinelli, and Ersan Ilyasova struggled. Ilyasova only went 3-of-8 shooting (1-for-3 from beyond the arc) with nine points. Belinelli only shot twice with one field goal and a free throw. His defense was the biggest reason for his struggles throughout the five game battle.

But it was JJ Redick, who had 14 points, who disappointed the most in this series. He went 2-of-7 from three and was careless with the ball.

Let’s not forget Robert Covington, who was downgraded to the bench in Game 4. He never got anything going, and last night’s five points didn’t help.

Dario Saric and Joel Embiid each had 27 points and more than 10 rebounds to lead the team. Ben Simmons scored 18 points. He also has a bobblehead that doesn’t look like him.

Boston sucks. But at least we beat them in the Super Bowl.

The Roundup:

With the Sixers done, it’s time to shift to the Phillies. If you haven’t paid attention, you’ll be surprised they’re doing very good, especially Aaron Nola, and could lead the NL East at the end of the day today. They’re also 14-2 against non-NL East teams.

Their recent success continued last night, as they crushed the San Francisco Giants 11-3 at home, thanks in part to a six-run sixth inning. That inning wasn’t boring for most fans.

Carlos Santana had another good night, despite not hitting a home run. Instead, he tied his career-high of five RBIs, including a pair of two RBI singles in the fifth and sixth innings. Maikel Franco hit a solo shot in the fourth inning for his seventh homer of the year.

Nick Pivetta had a nice bounce-back outing with seven strikeouts, despite throwing 96 pitches in five innings.

The team is back in action as they look for the four-game sweep of the Giants at 1:05 PM on Facebook Watch. Bleh. Vince Velasquez will take the mound.

Some bad news on the bullpen front, as Pat Neshek suffered a setback with a flexor strain in his right elbow and forearm that will force him to be shut down for at least a week. He’s been on the DL for the entire season.

The Eagles made some signings yesterday. The surprising one was veteran running back Matt Jones, formerly of the Redskins and Colts. Jones visited the team Tuesday and won a three-RB battle, along with Terrance West. Jones is signed for two-years, which was a little surprising. Right now, the Eagles have seven running backs. That seems like a lot.

The Eagles also signed their draft picks:

Matt Pryor could be similar to Cyrus Kouandjio, a former Alabama lineman who played under Jeff Stoutland and has jumped around the league.

Nick Foles is actually a goat in New England:

The Eagles Super Bowl jacket is back in stock. Remind everybody that the Eagles won the Super Bowl.

While wearing that jacket, you can also enjoy some commemorative wine the team is selling.

A reminder: Eagles single-game tickets go on sale today at 10 AM.

Nothing with the Flyers, but the Phantoms’ playoff game against the Charlotte Checkers looked awfully similar to a legendary Flyers game.

The teams played in five overtimes, the longest game in AHL history at 6:07 of real time. Game time was 146:53. Keith Primeau scored the game-winner against Pittsburgh. For the Phantoms, it was Alex Krushelnyski who scored in overtime:

Lehigh Valley won 2-1 to take a 3-1 series lead and are one game away from the Eastern Conference Final. Alex Lyon made…94 saves on 95 shots. NINETY. FOUR. There’s so many weird stats in this game. The Phantoms were outshot 95-53. They somehow won.

The Union fell to the Columbus Crew 1-0 in a midweek match on the road. Gyasi Zardes scored the lone goal in the 53rd minute. The squad will play in Montreal against the Impact Saturday afternoon.
