I don’t know if you know this, but the Eagles won the Super Bowl. And because of that, they get Super Bowl rings. Those rings were given out last night at the 2300 Arena, aka the ECW Arena.

Now before the Eagles got their Super Bowl rings, they had to deal with the final day of minicamp. It was lighter than the past two days, but they also ran a Philly Special-like play.

Doug Pederson mentioned the idea of Carson Wentz and Nick Foles splitting first-team reps in training camp, which would not be bad at all.

Healthy again, Darren Sproles explains why he came back for one more season:

“I want to go out with another ring,” he said, “and I want to go out No. 5 on the all-purpose yards list.”

Sproles (19,155) currently ranks eighth on that list, but Steve Smith (19,180), Marshall Faulk (19,190) and Tim Brown (19,682) are within reach. Some believe back-to-back championships for the Eagles is a realistic goal as well, especially with a group of players who suffered season-ending injuries, including Sproles, Carson Wentz and Jason Peters on the mend.

Once word crept out that Sproles was intending to play in 2018, the push for management to re-sign the free agent began in earnest.

“I think I got the message when Coach [Doug Pederson] would come by my office — I don’t know, maybe once a day or twice a day — and say, ‘What’s going on with Darren? When are we getting Sproles back?’” said executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman. “And I said, ‘I got the message, Coach.’

“But we all wanted Darren back. It was our goal to bring him back. We talked after the Super Bowl with Darren about that it would be a priority for him to come back. He’s a freak, you know? The things he’s doing in his rehab, it’s amazing.”

Also healthy, but not as banged up as Sproles, is Derek Barnett. I’m excited for what he has to bring in his sophomore campaign:

“I had surgery and stayed around here and rehabbed. Focused on some things I need to get better at,” he said. “One of the big things I need to improve on is my strength, getting stronger, and also getting better with my hands, [along with] just getting smarter, seeing things before the play even happens, ID-ing the formation, picking up on little tips and cues … . Being able to play third down and also playing the run well. Not being one-dimensional.”

That was exactly the way Barnett was as a rookie — serious and focused. His five sacks, achieved while playing just 41 percent of the defensive snaps, were the most of any Eagles rookie defensive lineman since Fletcher Cox managed 5.5 in 2012.

“I think the best asset he’s got is the ability to want to learn,” veteran defensive end Steven Means said Thursday. “He always asks me stuff … . You’ve got to respect a guy who takes his craft real seriously.”

Barnett downplayed the sports hernia, saying he didn’t know when he suffered it. He was listed sporadically on injury reports with the notation “groin,” starting in late November.

And now we wait until camp opens up in July. Six weeks of no football.

In other Eagles related news, Chris Long won the Pro Football Writers of America Good Guy Award, which is given out to the most media friendly player.

Also down in South Philly, the Phillies played the Rockies in the rubber match of their series in their throwback baby blues, which are beautiful, like the Super Bowl rings.

Vince Velasquez took a no-hitter with two outs in the seventh inning before giving up a double to Trevor Story and getting pulled. The Phillies also scored six runs in the seventh and eighth innings en route to a 9-3 win.

After slumping with hits the other night, the Phillies recorded 13 of them in the afternoon matinee. It was especially a good day for Rhys Hoskins, who had three hits and three RBIs, including a solo homer in the bottom of the first. He was a triple short of the cycle. Nick Williams also had two hits and two RBIs, including a solo shot of his own in the bottom of the second.

Up next is another meeting with the Brewers, this time it’ll be in Milwaukee. They’ll start tonight at 8:10 PM on NBC Sports Philadelphia. Jake Arrieta will take the mound for the Phils. Aaron Nola will pitch on Father’s Day.

No workouts for the Sixers yesterday, but they’ll hold another workout today. Kentucky forward Kevin Knox II will lead this group of players. It also includes forwards Wenyen Gabriel (Kentucky) and Jordan Barnett (Missouri), swingman Jacob Evans (Cincinnati), and guards Tra Holder (Arizona State) and E.C. Matthews (Rhode Island).

Russ really hopes a Wojbomb comes and the Sixers land Kawhi.

T.J. McConnell carries a chip on his shoulder in a great interview for the Arizona Daily Star while working at a camp at his alma mater of Arizona.

The NBA Draft is next Thursday, but the NHL Draft is next Friday. GM Ron Hextall spoke to the media yesterday and he expects to use both of his first round picks, unless the price is right:

“We tend to go by our lists,” Hextall said. “We’re not going to take our list and go down (and pass better players) to find a right-handed-shooting defenseman. Maybe you move down where you think you’re going to get a guy and maybe you do that. I’m not going to jump 10 guys on our list to draft a right-shot defenseman.”

Right now, Hextall doesn’t believe that will happen and instead will take aim at drafting twice in the first round for the third time in four years.

“I anticipate right now making our picks,” Hextall said. ”Certainly, we would move up if a great deal was there. We’d look at moving back if the right deal was there too. It’s really hard to project or predict.

“I think there’s a point in this draft where a certain pick may not be different than one 20 picks back. It’s probably a fairly typical draft. Everyone views things different and certainly there’s guys that we like.”

As for Free Agency, could a center be in the mix? No not John Tavares, but Paul Stastny?
