Should we be worried about Carson Wentz not participating in 11v11 drills for the past three practice sessions?

The answer is not even close. It’s a solid no.

We’re five weeks away from the team’s season opener against the Atlanta Falcons, and Wentz has looked solid for the most part when he’s in positional and team 7v7 drills. He has looked a little rusty, but he’s got time to knock that rust off.

For now, I think Wentz doesn’t play any preseason snaps. The Eagles appear to be very cautious with his rehab, which is smart, and Doug Pederson has mentioned that there’s a plan in place. So look to see a ton of Nate Sudfeld and Joe Callahan in the preseason. Hopefully it’s not as awful as Matt McGloin.

As for practice yesterday, Shelton Gibson (concussion protocol) and Matt Jones (lower-body injury) didn’t participate, while Adam Zaruba also missed the lightened session. Jones looks to practice today, if not maybe tomorrow. Josh Adams and DJ Killings returned. Tight end Josh Perkins left practice early.

The big thing to know is that Dallas Goedert is going to be a red zone matchup nightmare for teams. He dominated red zone drills and caught nearly everything in sight. One player that covered him well was Ronald Darby. He’s had a very good camp but has been rumored to be the odd corner out. He’s also in a contract year, which might be why he’s practicing well.

Outside of practice, former Eagle Brian Dawkins is getting ready for his Hall of Fame induction in Canton.

But without Jim Johnson, Dawkins may have never been the legend he is today.

“Love talking about Jim,” Dawkins said. “I just know that with Jim and his imagination and his willingness to go away from some traditional thinking when it comes to the safety position he allowed me and my gifts (to come out),” Dawkins said.

“The things that Emmitt Thomas, the Hall of Famer who was my defensive coordinator before him, helped bring to the surface. Once Jim brought some of the confidence that I didn’t have to the surface for me to be able to do more things with the gifts that I had, Jim just opened the floodgates.

“He would show me different blitzes during minicamp, that potentially could go in, (and ask), do I like this, what do I think of that?

“He would ask me toward the end of the week what I thought of the gameplan or were there any things I wanted to change, and that relationship developed over the years of me suggesting things.

“And I would do everything he would ask me to do. But if there were something I thought could be done differently I would suggest it and a lot of times he would change it.”

“I want to win the MVP. I feel like at the end of the day it might be an individual award, but when I play better, the team also does,” Embiid said. “I feel like if I’m an MVP candidate or if I win the MVP, that means we are on another level.”

That next level isn’t that far away according to Embiid.

“We won 52 games, which nobody thought would happen, we won 16 games in a row, we thought that we had a chance to go to the Finals,” Embiid said of last season. “The approach doesn’t change. Still the same. We’re just going to do our thing.”
