Guess who’s back, back again? Carson’s back, tell a friend.

And thank God he’s back now after the Birds fell to “FitzMagic” and Nick Foles didn’t perform up to his playoff standard in the first two games of the season. Wentz will certainly give the offense a much-needed jolt. Head coach Doug Pederson won’t “coach scared” with Wentz playing his first game in more than nine months, so he will have no limitations Sunday against the Colts.

So with the franchise back, the next question is what to do at wide receiver. Mike Wallace broke his fibula and could be out for the season. With Alshon Jeffery still week-to-week during shoulder rehab, your top receiver is Nelson Agholor. The best chance to bolster the roster was to get Josh Gordon from the Browns, but the Patriots got him for a fifth-round pick. CHEAP.

But maybe the Eagles were smart to not go after Gordon and shouldn’t go after Dez Bryant. It definitely sounded like Doug Pederson was looking at a veteran wide out, but who it could be remains unknown. Maybe Corey Coleman?

Probably not Chad Johnson, but he offered his services to the team:

In other news, the Eagles worked out four offensive linemen.

The Roundup:

The Phillies are still playing baseball, although their chances of making the postseason are dwindling fast. They need to play near flawless ball for the next two weeks if they want to make a miraculous run at the playoffs.

It didn’t help that they fell to the Mets once again at home 9-4 last night. Jake Arrieta struggled once again on the mound, going five innings and giving up four runs off nine hits and six strikeouts.

This game was tied at four going into the seventh inning when Michael Conforto drove in a run on a double. He ended up also hitting a three-run homer in the ninth inning and had six total RBIs in the Met win.

In their last 129 games against the Mets, the Phils have a record of 48-81. That ain’t good. To add to that, Asdrubal Cabrera will be out for a few games after he suffered a calf strain.

The magic number for Atlanta to clinch the NL East is seven games. It could go down some more tonight as the Phils take on the Mets at 7:05 PM on NBC Sports Philadelphia. The good news is Aaron Nola is starting and Aaron Loup is set to come off the DL.

For the second straight day, the Flyers played the Islanders in preseason hockey. And unlike Sunday afternoon’s tilt, the Flyers took care of the Isles 3-1 thanks to two Shayne Gostisbehere goals. Goalie Carter Hart also saw action for the first time this preseason and made 11 saves.

The two teams will play yet again tonight, this time in Brooklyn, at 7 PM.

The Flyers also made four cuts to their training camp roster.

The Sixers are holding second interviews for Justin Zanik and Gersson Rosas, along with internal candidates, for their general manager opening:

The ownership group had a dinner interview Sunday with Utah Jazz assistant general manager Justin Zanik and had another one with Houston Rockets vice president Gersson Rosas Monday, according to multiple sources. The sources add that the Sixers will have second interviews with their internal candidates later this week, expected Thursday and Friday.

The team first interviewed internal candidates Elton Brand, Marc Eversley, Ned Cohen and Alex Rucker, last week. Meanwhile, Zanik and Rosas, along with Larry Harris, Golden State’s assistant general manager and director of player personnel, interviewed for the GM position two weeks ago.

Harris will not get a second interview.

They have been open about hiring a general manager willing to work in a collaborative decision-making setting instead of having the final say. Sources have said that the Sixers want their next GM to be someone who will be a public face and win over the fans.
