If you think rooting for the Eagles has been brutal, try putting money on them, which is something that many a foolish man has done this season.

According to data released by DraftKings Sportsbook yesterday morning, the Eagles have been the fourth-most heavily wagered team against the spread, and, well, that’s been a bad bet. Favored in all but one game to this point, the defending Super Bowl champs are currently tied with the likes of the Falcons, Raiders, Jets, and 49ers for the NFL’s worst record against the spread at 3-8, and those that have backed them are lighter in the pocket for it.

Because I derive great pleasure from pain, I thought maybe we could relive some of the misery, of which there has been plenty of.

Let’s rewind it back Week 4 when the 3-point favorite Eagles yakked up a 14-point fourth quarter lead to blow the cover. While awful, it looked like they would get out of Nashville with a moneyline win and point spread push. 4th and 15. Should be no problem:

That, of course, was the first of three fourth down conversions on the drive by a mediocre offense, which eventually led to this:

Ah, memories.

In Week 7, it appeared the Eagles were finally ready to shake their early-season struggles, rolling the Panthers through three quarters at home as a 5-point favorite.

EASY MONEY:

History? Cool.

In addition a few heartbreakers, there was the Week 11 meltdown in New Orleans, which remarkably had a lot of action of the Eagles:

It’s just been that kind of season for bettors backing the Eagles, including those watched them fail to cover as a 5-point favorite in Sunday’s win over the Giants.

In case you were wondering, it’s been mixed results for the other most bet squads. The Chiefs (8-2-1 ATS) and Patriots (7-4 ATS) have been among league’s best at covering the number, while the Giants (5-5-1 ATS) and Packers (4-6-1) haven’t been lucrative.

As for this week, the Eagles are currently a 6.5-point favorite over the Redskins at DraftKings. That’s a pretty healthy line given the Eagles’ struggles and the Redskins’ solid 7-4 record against the spread this season. If you’re a glutton for punishment still looking for a score like me, you can grab the Eagles and hope they are “due” for a cover, or you can be like one DraftKings user who spun a $5.31 bet into $26,700 last week after correctly hitting on seven legs of an eight-leg parlay and cashing out before the last game at +4,141.76 odds. That works too.
