He has officially arrived:

(And Justin)

The Sixers officially introduced Jimmy Butler (and Justin Patton) yesterday in Camden in a press conference filled with media members and Sixers personnel. And I was thoroughly impressed by how Butler presented himself.

The offense will be a little different for him than it was in Minnesota and he has another locker room to become acquainted with. I don’t think he’ll have a problem here whatsoever.

Butler (not Patton) will play tonight in Orlando as the Sixers look to keep the momentum they got in Miami going against the Magic at 7 PM on NBC Sports Philadelphia. A lot of questions will be answered, including the starting lineup and bench rotation.

Meanwhile after the press conference, Elton Brand addressed the Markelle Fultz situation. He’s not that worried about Markelle’s long-term future.

The Roundup:

For the first time in six games, the Flyers did not get a point. They fell to the Panthers 2-1 at home last night, despite a 3rd period rally that started with a Jake Voracek goal. Aaron Ekblad and Evgenii Dadonov had both of Florida’s goals in the 2nd period, and Roberto Luongo stopped 30 of 31 shots. The Panthers won their 5th straight game.

Up next for the Flyers are the Devils at home tomorrow night, another team that’s struggled early. Puck drop is at 7 PM.

The Eagles are preparing for a possible must-win game down in New Orleans against the Saints on Sunday. And it was a big day for tight ends at NovaCare.

Richard Rodgers has been cleared to return to practice and will most likely be one of two guys to come off IR. I wonder if this says something about Dallas Goedert, who’s been invisible for most of the season.

Also, a switch in practice squad tight ends:

Former Eagle Jason Avant thinks Doug Pederson is losing the locker room.

“I think you have to put this on Doug,” Avant said. “The reason I say you have to put this on Doug, is one, this team has shown that they’ve been undisciplined all year, leading the league in penalties for half the year. When it comes to reverses, screens, and misdirections, this (defense) goes for it every time, and that’s a lack of discipline. We’re offensive-based, with an offensive coach in Doug. We can’t generate points. This is basically on Doug.

“We know that there’s problems in the secondary. The D-line didn’t play well (Sunday) night, but listen, they can’t play well every game. You have to step up in certain areas.

“When you think about the Dallas trash talk, you think of all the things that we’re commenting on off the field, all the fights and stuff that are happening before the game, he’s losing control of this team, and it’s just true. I’m sorry to say that, but it’s just the truth. I don’t think that they’re respecting him the way they should respect their head coach.

“I saw them walk on Dak Prescott’s touchdown (Sunday) night. They were walking to the line of scrimmage while the Cowboys were hustling. Those are things that speak to the head coach, and that was a sad showing last night.”

Other than that, Mike Groh and Jim Schwartz talked to the media.

In college hoops, Temple defeated Georgia at home 81-77. Shizz Alston Jr. and Quinton Rose each had 25 point nights, with Alston becoming the 53rd Owl to score 1,000 career points. The Owls also forced 20 turnovers on the Bulldogs. Up next is Loyola on Friday.

Penn crushed Lafayette by 30 at the Palestra. Devon Goodman led the way with 16 points. The Quakers are 3-0 for the first time since 2015. Up next is the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands against Northern Iowa.
