Stephen A. Smith Gives an Insightful Breakdown of Tonight’s Chargers/Chiefs Game

Stephen A. Smith, Tedy Bruschi, and Max Kellerman were on ESPN’s First Take earlier today breaking down the pivotal AFC West showdown between the Chargers and Chiefs. Typically, I don’t have many nice things to say about the show, but since it’s the holidays and all, I’m going to try to be a little more positive here. I have to give the show credit because, well, you’re just not going to find NFL analysis like this anywhere else:

The faces of Kellerman and Bruschi are absolutely priceless.

To recap:

1. Smith begins by citing the role of Spencer Ware (who is doubtful tonight)
2. Says the San Diego Chargers (the city in which the team no longer plays)
3. Praises the effectiveness of tight end Hunter Henry and “the way he’s played this year” (he hasn’t played since last season)
4. Finishes by discussing Henry’s matchup with linebacker Derrick Johnson (who was released by the Raiders in October and is currently not in the NFL)

The commentary was almost impressive in its absurdity. Unsurprisingly, Smith is taking a ton of shit on Twitter. Here’s his response:

Smith does kind of have a point. The guy is everywhere, and he really doesn’t need to be, particularly if this is what he’s going to bring to the table.
