Flyers Twitter erupted this afternoon with news that the team loaned wunderkind netminder Carter Hart to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms:

In the most ill-informed segments of the fanbase, some panicked that the team is about to go into full tank mode. That is, to put it simply, moronic. Are there people in the Flyers organ-I-zation with their eyes on top draft prospects Jack Hughes and Kaapo Kakko? Of course. However, if you honestly believe that Comcast Spectacor Chairman and CEO Dave Scott – who fired GM Ron Hextall due in part to the loss of merchandise and in-arena revenue  – would now endorse a full tank, I don’t know what to tell you.

The likeliest scenario after the jump:

Anthony and I didn’t talk about the possibility of sending Hart down to Lehigh Valley on our most recent episodes of Snow the Goalie, and have little-to-no intention of doing so on this weekend’s episode. The reason is simple: Hart will go to the Phantoms and play in one or both of Friday’s game against Le Rocket de Laval or Saturday’s game versus the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. He’ll be back up with the Flyers by Sunday following the team’s All-Star Week bye.

Could I be wrong? Anything’s possible, but there are plenty of other ways to tank the season other than by sending down one of the only draws to make the trek down to Wells Fargo Center.
