Could we be getting closer to finally learning where Bryce Harper will play baseball this season?

If you believe that a video game will break the news, then maybe:

Interesting. Harper is the cover athlete for this year’s edition of the game, and his free agency has been a core part of its promotional strategy throughout the winter.

Of course, whoever runs MLB The Show’s Twitter account knows that baseball fans are so starved for Harper news that they can easily use the desperation to drum up interest ahead of the game’s trailer release or for some other promotional purpose. That person also likely knows there exists people like me who come across this stuff, and then package it into stories like this one, all too glad to recycle and distribute this shit to the masses.

Here’s my play:

I’m going to dismiss this as complete nonsense and tell you that there’s absolutely no way that a video game’s Twitter account is breaking Harper’s destination tomorrow, and then I’m going to promptly refresh MLB The Show’s social media accounts for the next 24 hours while I simultaneously search for other conspiracy-driven crumbs of information until this latest mystery is solved.

Who says baseball’s offseason isn’t fun?
