You learn something new every day.

Today Eagles offensive coordinator Mike Groh divulged a small detail for us. A minor nugget, if you will.

The Wendell Smallwood wildcat play from Sunday’s win has a special name:

Q. Who came up with the “fake” Philly Special? (Bo Wulf)

MIKE GROH: It came out of the run division, yeah. I wasn’t in the run division meeting, but it came out of the run division meeting, yeah.

Q. What is it called? (Jimmy Kempski)

MIKE GROH: (laughs) Oh, it’s called London Special, yeah. We put it in in London.

Pretty cool. That means Duce Staley and his guys came up with it. I guess they were going to use it against the Jaguars but never did.

I Imagine the conversation on Sunday went something like this:

Wendell Smallwood: “You want London London?”

Doug Pederson: “Yeah, let’s do it.”

They ran it on the two-point conversion that came up just short on Sunday night, after the jump:

Super close.

Some people are convinced that Smallwood got the ball over the line, but the NFL doesn’t use goal line technology:

Time’s yours.
