A well-deserved honor for a person gone way too soon.

Roy Halladay is one of four players to be part of the Baseball Hall of Fame’s Class of 2019. He’s one of two in the class to be enshrined in their first year on the ballot.

The other is Mariano Rivera, who made even more history. Rivera became the first ever unanimous selection, an incredible feat for the greatest closer of all-time, and probably one of the very few Yankees people actually liked.

Edgar Martinez finally made it in his 10th and final year of eligibility. And so did Mike Mussina, in his sixth year. They’ll join Harold Baines and Lee Smith to complete the 2019 class.

As for the players that didn’t make it, Curt Schilling topped that list, getting 60.9% of votes in his sixth year. Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds made a small uptick to 59% in their seventh years.

Here’s the complete list.

First off, Sammy Sosa fell off a cliff. Second, who the hell were the two voters that put Placido Polanco on their ballots? They should be stripped of their votes.

The induction ceremony will be held on July 21 in Cooperstown, New York.

More reaction from the Carson Wentz story. More players continue to defend Wentz, while Joe Santoliquito said he’s the best thing for Wentz. That’s something I probably wouldn’t have said if I just wrote something like that on him.

Some Union content! Their preseason roster is… meh.

Meanwhile, rookie goaltender Matt Freese welcomed two Major League Lacrosse players for a shoot.

Being in the lacrosse world, this was something the league wanted to do. But there’s no team in Philly and one of the players (Bowes) lives in Boston. Plus, I didn’t know who Freese was until I saw that. Production was good, but idea could’ve been made better on a market with MLL and MLS teams. I’ll move on because none of you care.
