After sitting down for a super-secret interview with six Eagles beat reporters last week, Carson Wentz took some time to speak with Angelo Cataldi this morning on 94 WIP.

Part of the reason for the interview was to promote Carson’s second annual charity softball game, so that topic started off the phone call. Then Angelo began asking about the Philly Voice story, though he sort of just doubled over the topics the reporters asked Wentz last week. I recorded about nine minutes of the segment before getting out of the car, and here’s what Carson had to say:

On watching from the sidelines:

“Obviously it was frustrating. You play this game and you want to be on the field. As a competitor you really wanna be out there. But it’s just part of the plan. It’s extremely tough. I’ve had to walk through it twice now, unfortunately, but at the end of the day I can’t control it….”

Did the disappointment make him less team friendly than he had been in the past?

“Yeah, anytime you go through that you have to be cognizant of that. I don’t know if necessarily it changed my demeanor drastically, I just know – even going back to last year – I was so focused and so intent on just getting back out there. It’s tough; anytime you go to practice, go to rehab, any of those things, you’re kind of separate from the team, so you can lose that element of team, just because everyone who’s in treatment or rehabbing is so locked in and focused on your treatment and you’re kind of a band of brothers that you’re rehabbing with, so to speak. So at times you could make the case that you lose sight of that throughout the rehab process…”

More after the jump:

Had anyone ever written a negative story about you?

“You know how it is; the last time I felt like that was coming out of the draft, or coming into the draft. There are articles all over, and you can’t really read too much into it. But when there’s criticism in different things and people point it out to you, you’re gonna take a look and just see if there are areas where you can better and if there’s room for improvement. To some extent, some of the stories didn’t quite line up with what I remember or envision at all. But the overall nutshell of it is that if someone did have these issues or whatever, I would have loved to talk about it with them. Obviously that’s not the case, so I’ll just try to learn from it and be a better teammate or player, person because of it. I’m not gonna let it drastically change me or affect me in any way.”

Wentz went on to say that doesn’t know who was saying negative things about him to Joe Santoliquito. He reiterated that he initially “played detective” to seek out the source(s), then found the exercise to be ultimately pointless. Cataldi then asked a series of questions about Carson’s injuries, and whether or not the quarterback fell like he was 100% coming off the ACL tear while also dealing with the back problem.

I made it about nine minutes into this jawn, which lasted a little under 12. Full audio below:
