The AAF needed a $250 million bailout to help meet payroll demands in only its second week, but the initial quality of the on-field product has been surprisingly solid, and now, you’re going to be able to bet on it at DraftKings Sportsbook.

Whether or not the league is able to thrive long-term as a sustainable entity remains to be seen, but I’m bullish on the prospects. Why? Because it’s football during a time in which there would otherwise be no football, and, more importantly, you can bet on it.

DraftKings Sportsbook is giving players the ability to wager on AAF spreads, game totals, and moneylines. If you think the Orlando Apollos will stay hot this week, you can grab them -14 (-110) are -670 on the moneyline over the Memphis Express.

There will also be a futures market on the league champion. The Apollos are currently favored to win the league at +175, but if you’re interested in a longshot, you can grab the Salt Lake Stallions +1600, or the Atlanta Legends at +4000.

DraftKings tells us it has plans to further expand betting its AAF betting options in the near future.

The AAF was created with betting in mind. Just reference this New York Times article about the league’s plans to utilize advanced data and make it available for prop bets. This is the holy grail of the future of sports betting: live, in-game, data-based props. It’s the gamification of sports, and the AAF is here for it.
