The Flyers announced earlier this morning that the franchise acquired defenseman David Schlemko and forward Byron Froese from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for forward Dale Weise and defenseman Christian Folin:

In 42 games this season, Weise scored five goals, tallied six assists, and had a -6 +/- on the year. Folin appeared in 26 games this season and only notched two points on the year.

According to the Flyers, Schlemko appeared in 18 games for the Canadiens this year and recorded 2 assists.

Froese currently serves as the captain of the Canadiens’ AHL affiliate where he has 30 points in 46 games. He leads the team with 14 goals. Last season, Froese appeared in 48 games for the Canadiens and scored three goals and eight assists.

The Flyers didn’t stop there. They also recalled defenseman Philippe Myers from Lehigh Valley:

My hockey knowledge stops at the PS1 classic NHL Faceoff 98 (the Coyotes were an absolute juggernaut in that game, Keith Tkachuk was unstoppable), so I’ll let the excellent Flyers guys on this site, Russ and Ant, give their opinions on the deal later.
