The Super Bowl is coming up, and if you’re in New Jersey, you might just be thinking about putting down your first legal sports bet, be it online or at one of the many physical sportsbooks. Either way, it will be a big day for NJ sports betting. Here’s our guide on where and how to bet on the Super Bowl in New Jersey.
Online Super Bowl betting
Most of you reading this are looking for the best online sportsbook or app to bet with, so we’ll skip the pleasantries and just get right to it. These are your best options– in order of desirable signup bonus:
We have reviewed each of these extensively and have robust details on everything you need to know about betting in New Jersey right here. But for the Super Bowl specifically, here’s what you need to know about each of these apps. All of them are available on both iOS and Android and have desktop sites as well.
DraftKings has been the undisputed leader of legal NJ sports betting mostly due to brand strength, but also because they offer a genuinely modern and intuitive app. For NJ Super Bowl betting, they’re offering a handful of promotions.
free bet up to $600— Deposit at least $5 and receive a $100 free bet, and then your first bet will be matched up to $500.
FREE Super Bowl squares— this is like the traditional squares game you play at most Super Bowl parties, you simply select a square and then once the game starts DraftKings will randomly assign numbers to the grid. You can win from $53,000 in cash prizes, with more available for every 100k entries DraftKings receives

FanDuel is offering 53-1 Super Bowl odds on moneyline bets. This means $5 (max bet) pays out $265.

There is nothing fancy about SugarHouse’s app, but it’s consistently one of the more popular in New Jersey because of the ease with which you can deposit money. They offer two specific promos worth mentioning.
$250 deposit bonus— get your first deposit matched up to $250, and you can withdraw this money after you only bet with it once
Big Game bonus— bet at least 10 times between now and the Super Bowl, and SugarHouse will award you an undefined bonus (likely the same amount you bet) to use during the big game

This is our unsung favorite app. BetStars is owned by the same company that owns PokerStars and they are well known in Europe. The lack of brand recognition in the US shouldn’t deter you from checking them out. The app suffered from some deposit issues early on, but those have largely been ironed out, leaving you with a clean, fun app that is easy to understand for more novice bettors and which offers genuinely useful promos on a weekly basis.
They are not offering any specific Super Bowl promos yet, but their regular signup offer of up to a $500 free bet is good enough.

Another lesser known European brand, 888 was one of the first sportsbooks out of the gate in New Jersey and they offer the same odds as DraftKings and SugarHouse (all are backed by popular data provider Kambi). They offer a super clean interface on both mobile and desktop, but their signup offer isn’t quite as good.
double your BIG GAME winnings— double your winnings on Patriots or Rams bets -200 or higher
$500 deposit bonus— this is similar to the other offers, but it comes with more restrictions

We’ve written quite a lot about PointsBet and their unique points betting offering which allows you to wager on an over-under prop and win (or lose) a multiple of your bet. It can make a relatively low-limit bet quite intoxicating. They are sort of in soft launch mode at the moment, but they’ve already made some headlines by refunding spread and moneyline bets on the Saints after the blown call in the NFC Championship.
They have a pretty cool Super Bowl promo going.
No juice on Super Bowl spread bets— no fees
Two risk free bets up to $1,000— one for fixed odds, one for points bets

NJ Super Bowl betting odds
The Patriots are 2.5-point favorites at most sportsbooks, with the Rams being the underdog. Lines opened at around -1 in favor of the Patriots and have since trended upward.
The over-under between these two high-scoring teams opened at as high as 58.5 and has since moved down to as low as 56 in some places.
Currently, 81% of the action and 84% of the money is on the Patriots, but the big money typically comes in closer to game time and has the power to move the line. For now, the books are holding steady against public action at around 2.5, which tells you something about how they view the Rams (or where they think the late money will land). This is about as close as you’ll get with all of the NJ sports betting apps largely in agreement on the spread.
What Super Bowl betting options are offered at NJ sportsbooks?
As you might expect, you can bet on the full range of possible action for Super Bowl 53, including spread bets, moneyline bets, over-under, the coin toss, and prop bets.
Each of the sportsbooks listed here offers their own unique action in some way. Player props are popular for the Super Bowl, as are the more ridiculous prop bets, but the two most unique options we can find come from DraftKings and PointsBet.
DraftKings’ squares betting will most closely simulate the kind of action you might be used to on the Super Bowl, whereas PointsBet brings you something entirely new by allowing you to win a multiple of your bet on a whole range of options.
Where can I bet on the Super Bowl in New Jersey?
There are plenty of physical sportsbooks now open in New Jersey, and which one you want to visit may largely come down to location. But there are two worth calling attention to.
The Ocean Resort, which offers up a MASSIVE space in which to bet and watch, is a good bet if you’re in Atlantic City.
And if you’re interested in watching the game with Patriots-hating Jets fans, the FanDuel Sportsbook at The Meadowlands would be a good place.
