The new look Sixers look fun. And ready to win now.

They took both of their nationally televised games this weekend against Western Conference foes at the Wells Fargo Center. The first came against the Nuggets in a 117-110 win. JJ Redick had a season-high 34 points and the Sixers started to gel early, especially with two big plays late.

Then came LeBron and the Lakers on Sunday, after these comments from Magic Johnson:

As for the game, it was a blowout with the Sixers crushing the Lakers 143-120. Joel Embiid had a monster 37 points and 14 rebounds, Tobias Harris put up 22 points, JJ Redick had 21, and Jimmy Butler scored 15. All but Ben Simmons (eight points) scored in double-digit figures. So much for teams struggling to cover after big trades.

Up next is a Tuesday night home matchup against the Celtics, who aren’t looking so good. But Boston has always been this team’s kryptonite.

Speaking of players who aren’t with us anymore, add Dale Weise and Christian Folin to that list. The Flyers traded both of them to Montreal for defenseman David Schlemko and forward Byron Froese. The team also recalled defenseman Phil Myers.

And after the trade, the Flyers crushed the Ducks 6-2 to extend their point streak to 10 games. Sean Couturier had a goal and two assists, while Carter Hart stopped 30 saves and won his eighth consecutive game, tying Jocelyn Thibault for the longest winning streak by a rookie goaltender before he turns 21.

He could extend that streak to nine games as the Flyers host the Penguins tonight at 7 PM on NBC Sports Philadelphia and NBCSN. How will Gritty act tonight?
