This was going to start with more of the Stadium Series thriller. Instead, it’s more Bryce Harper.

Everything looked good for the Phillies to definitely sign him. The Nationals backed out. John Middleton flew to Vegas to meet with Harper. Buster Olney said the Phillies would have a resolution by Tuesday.

But…the Dodgers are reportedly back in. They reportedly met two weeks ago as well. That sucks.

However, it might not. Per Jeff Passan.

So could the Dodgers or Harper change their minds? Obviously. But I hope something gets done this week.

The Roundup:

Now for the Stadium Series. Coming off a 5-1 loss to Montreal and Carter Hart getting pulled yet again, things looked bleak for a win over the Penguins. Despite Hart’s fun mask, Brian Elliott got the start because Hart suffered a lower-body injury. He’s out for about a week. Might be why he didn’t look good in his last two games.

But despite what looked like another Penguin win and Flyer loss in an outdoor game, the squad scored two goals late in the third to force overtime before Claude Giroux delivered the heroics for a 4-3 win. A disaster ended up being one of the more memorable Flyer games in recent memory despite the rain.

It might also have been the last game for Wayne Simmonds:

3 PM today is the NHL Trade Deadline. Simmonds is expected to be dealt.

As for the current team, they have Buffalo on Tuesday night. Here’s how the standings look for the two wild card spots:

After a win over Miami in their return from the All-Star break, the Sixers sucked against Portland in a 130-115 loss. Similar to their first meeting back in December, which was a 34-point loss, the team didn’t have Joel Embiid. He’s still out due to knee soreness. Maybe he’s back for the OKC game Thursday night or Golden State on Saturday night.

They probably won’t have him tonight as they travel to New Orleans to take on the Pelicans. Game’s at 8 PM on NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Some Eagles news! The team extended kicker Jake Elliott and long snapper Rick Lovato for a year, but released Chris Maragos.

They’re also getting two compensatory picks in this year’s NFL Draft.

In college hoops:

  • Villanova‘s struggles continue as they fell to Xavier 66-54.
  • Temple shot nearly 59% in the second half to beat Tulsa 84-73.
  • Drexel defeated Delaware 68-60 behind Camren Wynter’s 19 points and eight rebounds.
  • Columbia edged Penn in overtime Friday, but the Quakers came back to crush Cornell Saturday.
  • St. Joe’s fell to UMass 80-79 on a late jumper with 2.7 seconds left.
  • La Salle lost to Richmond 84-75.
