Now to the latest on Bryce Harper:

Nothing.

Except for more rumors.

Tidbits from Jon Morosi and Buster Olney don’t give us a clearer picture, but it does sound like the race is pretty much down to either the Phillies or the Giants. Maybe the Nationals, too, but I doubt that.

Due to this:

Sources told MLB.com on Wednesday that the Nationals have no plans to give Harper a mega-deal comparable to Machado’s 10-year, $300 million contract with the Padres, likely ending any chance for Washington’s longtime face of the franchise to remain with the club. The Nationals offered Harper a contract worth $300 million over 10 years before the end of the 2018 regular season. Harper and his agent Scott Boras rejected the deal.

So it’s probably a two team race. Andy Martino thinks the Giants have a better chance of landing Harper. We’ll see.

Brian Dawkins threw out his pitch to Harper last night:

In non-Harper news, would fans have booed Manny Machado on Opening Day if he didn’t hustle? And the team is poised to sign Yhoswar Garcia, a top outfielder in Latin America, when the international signing period begins in July.
