Just a reminder, Brandon Brooks tore his Achilles tendon on January 13th during the divisional round playoff loss to the Saints.

A lot of the thinking at the time went something this:

“Shit.. he’s gonna be rehabbing through the summer, he might not be ready for the start of the season…”

That may very well be true, but it’s crazy to me that a 6’5″, 300+ pound dude is already running inside the NovaCare bubble, just four and a half months later:

Brooks told reporters back then that he was looking at a 6-8 month time frame for a return, which would put him in line to rejoin full team activities anywhere from July to September.

Interestingly enough, Jason Kelce had this take on his offensive line partner, via Reuben Frank at NBC Sports Philadelphia:

“I fully expect Brandon Brooks to be back,” Kelce said after OTA practice Tuesday. “I’m not a medical staff person, but I think if you look at Achilles injuries in general over the past five years, they’ve been a pretty easy recovery. I shouldn’t be saying this, something can always go wrong in a rehab, there can always be setbacks, some guys heal faster than others. But those Achilles injuries have been pretty routine at this point. The only thing is that once you tear one, you have the other one. That’s the only thing I’m even remotely hesitant about.”

“I think he’ll be back,” Kelce said. “Maybe not for training camp or any of the preseason games, but I think he’ll be back, if not for Game 1 then very early on. His rehab looks like it’s going really well, too, for whatever that’s worth.”

If Brooks isn’t good to go for the season opener, the Eagles slot in Super Bowl winner Stefen Wisniewski. Piece of cake.

Can’t believe Brooks is already running.. feels like he’s ahead of schedule.
