What a heartbreaking loss. What a way to end your season.

I honestly don’t know what was worse. Kawhi Leonard’s rim-rattling shot to win the game for Toronto or the Sixers’ allowing the Raptors to get 16 offensive rebounds and waste three possessions on offense. Either way, the game was bad. Toronto won 92-90.

The shot was one of the most heartbreaking things I’ve ever seen. Everyone was pissed. “It sucks” as Joel Embiid said.

But take away one of the top five worst Philly sports memories from the other 47:56 of the game. The game came down to three areas. The first was stopping Kawhi who ended up with 41 points and was a killer in every game this series. Obviously that didn’t happen.

The second was rebounding. The Raptors out-rebounded the Sixers 49-41 but the key was offensive boards which Toronto more than tripled Philadelphia 16-5. Allowing those second chance opportunities for a team that outshot the Sixers by 24 attempts isn’t good.

And the third came in crunch time. Three straight possessions where the team used up the entire shot clock and missed opportunities to score some points. Prior to Butler’s driving layup to tie the game at 90, the last field goal Philly made was on Redick’s and-one shot with 3:29 left.

We all move on. We’ll see what happens with the team in the coming weeks and months. Kevin is down in Camden today for end of season media availability. We’ll have a running thread of the day later on the site.

The Roundup:

With the Sixers done, everyone’s attention is now on the Phillies who took two of three from the Royals this weekend. The series started off bad as Jake Arrieta allowed three home runs in a 5-1 loss.

Zach Eflin continued his dominant run on Saturday with a complete game allowing only four hits with seven strikeouts in a 7-0 Phillies win. Andrew McCutchen and Rhys Hoskins each had a pair of RBIs.

Sunday was supposed to be Vince Velasquez on the mound, but he was placed on the injured list with a right forearm strain. In his place, Cole Irvin made a fantastic MLB debut with seven strong innings giving up one run on five hits with five strikeouts as the Phils won 6-1. J.T. Realmuto and Odubel Herrera each had a pair of RBIs.

Phillies return home for a four-game set with the Milwaukee Brewers. Aaron Nola takes the mound tonight against Freddy Peralta at 7:05 PM on NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Elsewhere, Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner has the Phillies on his no-trade list. But does it mean anything?

The Phils will also hold a “Celebration of Life” service for David Montgomery in June.

The Eagles are signing guys today. This one just now:

Per Mike Garafolo, it’s for one-year worth $1.5 million

Also later today, the Birds will add former Browns and Jaguars quarterback Cody Kessler. The team will have five QBs on their roster (Wentz, Sudfeld, Clayton Thorsen, Luis Perez, and Kessler).

Rookie minicamp happened this weekend featuring Weston Steelhammer.
