Thank you, Broncos coach Vic Fangio, for putting into words what I tried to say in two stories written last month.

The Scranton native was recently told that Denver has 19 training camp sessions that are open to fans, which is the most in the NFL. This was his response to that, transcribed and shared on Twitter by The Athletic Broncos writer Nicki Jhabvala:

That second paragraph is money, just 100% truth.

In regard to Philly,  it’s not about the $10 the Eagles are charging for their session. It’s not about the charity angle; that’s not the complaint.

As I wrote in June, it’s about the gradual debasement of a once-heralded part of the NFL season. Lehigh University training camp used to be a formative moment for Eagles fans, a pilgrimage of sorts that you embarked on with friends and family. You met players, took a photo, got an autograph, whatever. Training camp created memories that lasted a lifetime, and now that’s been pretty much reduced to nothing.

Please send this Fangio quote to the Eagles. Email it to your ticket sales rep. Print it out, fold it in half, and slide it into Jeff Lurie’s mailbox.
