Here’s your FanDuel Sportsbook PA betting update for Thursday, August 15.

It’s Hittin’ Season?

In baseball action, the Phillies exploded for 11 runs, and all nine starters had at least one hit in their blowout win over the Cubs last night.

Welcome back, Charlie Manuel.

Tonight, the Phillies will look to make it a clean three-game sweep of the Cubs, which would give the team its first three-game winning streak since July 21-24.

It will be Drew Smyly (2-6, 6.96 ERA) making his fifth start for the Phillies against Chicago’s Yu Darvish (4-6, 4.43 ERA).

FanDuel Sportsbook Partners with MLB

Speaking on baseball, FanDuel has officially partnered with Major League Baseball in a deal that will allow the sportsbook to access MLB’s official game data, marks, and logos.

What does that mean for you?

Well, it means a better and more thorough baseball betting experience is probably coming your way soon. With FanDuel having access to analytical and next-gen stats and information, bettors will be able to bet on more precise outcomes, which includes things such as exit velocity and home run distance.

Eagles-Jaguars Preseason Action

We also have the Eagles’ second preseason game on the menu tonight. Carson Wentz and Nick Foles will battle it out, presumably via a staring contest from opposing sidelines as neither quarterback is expected to play.

Eagles head coach Doug Pederson seems content to protect most of his starters this preseason and let those fighting for roster spots do the heavy lifting, so expect a healthy dose of players that probably won’t be on either team’s roster in a few weeks.

Still, it’s a football game, and you can bet on it, so we’ll get into some things to know about that matchup in just a bit, but first – back to baseball.

Cubs-Phillies Trends to Know

Some Telling Home/Road and Favorite/Underdog Splits

If you want to grab the Phillies at FanDuel Sportsbook tonight, I’ve got some bad news. The Phillies are a miserable 15-30 (-$1,126) as an underdog this season, they are also 6-15 (-$742) when a moneyline underdog between +110 and +140 and are 3-8 (-$403) as a home underdog. Of course, the Phillies did win in these roles on Tuesday night.

And while all of those numbers are a concern, the Cubs are absolutely woeful on the road. After the Phillies secured a series victory last night, Chicago is now winless in their last 12 series away from Wrigley Field.

Chicago is 23-37 (-$1,295) on the road and an unprofitable 14-13 ($-118) as a road favorite.

In terms of this exact moneyline, they come in at -140. They’re 15-10 ($+90) when favored between -130 and -160 on the moneyline this season.

A Daunting Trend

Home underdogs that scored at least 10 runs in their previous game are 17-36 this season ($-1,401), which obviously doesn’t bode well for the Phillies after scoring 11 runs last night. The Phillies, however, are 2-0 this season as an underdog in games after scoring at least 10 runs, but both of those wins did come on the road.

Home teams that are +120 to +140 on the moneyline are also only 2-8 (-$540) after games in which they score 10 or more runs.

Other Trends to Know

The Phillies are 6-4 (+40) in home games after two straight wins.

The Phillies are 0-2 (-$200) at home when an underdog between +120 and +130 on the moneyline.

The Cubs are 4-9 (-$542) when facing a left-handed starter on the road this season, but are 4-1 when favored and 0-8 as an underdog.

Cubs-Phillies Prop Bet

Yu Darvish has allowed 26 homers this season ( a career worst 1.77 HR/9) and 17 of those bombs have been served up to left-handed hitters. Bryce Harper has two multi-home run games over his last five contests and 15 of his 24 HRs have come against right-handed pitching.

Harper, who’s 0 for 2 off of Darvish in a limited sample, has only homered in back-to-back games twice this season, and he hasn’t done it since May 17-18, but…it’s hittin’ season?

You can grab Harper to go deep tonight at +280.

Eagles-Jaguars Odds at FanDuel Sportsbook

Spread: PHI: +3 (-110) | JAX: –3 (-110)
Money Line: PHI (+125) | JAX(-150)
Total Points: 33.5 – Over (-120) | Under (+100)
The spread has held steady at +3 this week, but the moneyline is swaying in Philly’s favor. The Eagles were +132 on Tuesday, but it’s now +125 as of 1:30 p.m. this afternoon.
The total is also shrinking. It sat at 35 on Tuesday, but is now down 1.5 points to 33.5.

Eagles-Jaguars Trends to Know

Carson Wentz probably won’t play in this one, but it appears head coach Doug Pederson isn’t too concerned with playing his starters much this preseason.
Here’s something to know: The Eagles are 8-14 ATS overall as a preseason underdog and 7-14 ATS as a road underdog dating back to 2005, while they are 3-4 ATS overall as an underdog and 2-4 ATS as a road dog in preseason games under Pederson.
