Remember back in 2011 when the Flyers and Rangers were featured on HBO’s 24/7 Road to the Winter Classic? We were treated to some absolute gems from former net minder Ilya Bryzgalov, who gave good news and great news to reporters, told us about the humongous big universe, and compared dogs to “hot blondes”. Then, this past season, the Flyers and Penguins were featured on NBCSN’s Wired, where we learned that Travis Konecny thinks Evgeni Malkin is a “******* nerd”. It should come as no surprise that Wednesday’s announcement that the Flyers will be the focus of the NHL Network’s four-part Behind the Glass series has led to rejoicing in the Delaware Valley.

In a press release, Valerie Camillo, president of business operations for Philadelphia Flyers and Wells Fargo Center said:

We are thrilled to be working with the NHL and NHL Network to showcase a different, all-access side of the Flyers organization.

This is an incredible opportunity to give our fans and the hockey community a never-before-seen look at our club and to spotlight the promising young talent we are developing that will bring the Flyers to the next level.

The official series title –Behind The Glass: Philadelphia Flyers Training Camp– shed some light on when and where the cameras will be shining the brightest. Will Morgan Frost or Joel Farabee grab the 3RW opening and take it as his own? Will Carter Hart be able to build off a solid rookie season?

The all-access piece will include some international flavor as filming is set to take place in the Czech Republic, where the Flyers will be led by Kladno native Jakub Voracek. He’s always a good quote and an entertaining player to be around, so I’d say it’s safe to assume he’ll be quite the star while abroad.

More after the jump:

The series will also feature defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere, who calls Philadelphia home in the offseason, as well as center Kevin Hayes, who will look to make an early impact with his new team after signing a 7-year, $50m contract this offseason with the Orange & Black.

GM Chuck Fletcher and head coach Alain Vigneault are also sure to play prominent roles in the four-part series, including some behind-the-scenes insight as they look to whittle the roster down from 50 players to 23 before Opening Night.
