Show some respect.

The Philadelphia Eagles are set to sweat out a hot one tomorrow afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field against the Detroit Lions. You could have learned this just from looking at the NFL schedule, but the Lions’ Twitter feed wanted to make absolutely sure you knew where they are and who they will be playing tomorrow:

Oh look! It’s the Lions logo at the foot of the “Rocky” statue! Wow, they really owned you with that one, Eagles fans. And look at all of those fired-up Lions fans ready to storm the Linc tomorrow! It’s terrifying.

I really didn’t want to do this, but let’s do a quick rundown of just a few of the highlights of the Detroit Lions franchise:

  • Three playoff appearances since 2000, all three of which ended with losses on Wild Card weekend.
  • 6-10 last season.
  • Gave Matthew Stafford — yup, that chugging guy — $135 million over five years in 2017, with over $60 million of it guaranteed.
  • Had one of the most transcendent wide receivers in football and did such a horrible job putting a team around him that he retired due to frustration and the need for self-preservation.
  • Had one of the most transcendent running backs in football and did such a horrible job putting a team around him that he retired due to frustration and the need for self-preservation.

Picking on the Lions kind of feels like picking on, I don’t know, the Minnesota Vikings, which I’m going to do right now. I don’t know what it is with these inferior NFC North teams, but every time they come to Philadelphia they somehow manage to show their whole ass:

Funny, the Art Museum in that shot looks a lot like it did a bit later:

Add all of that to the fact that the Eagles will always have 4th-and-26 to stick in the eye of the Green Bay Packers and the double-doink to shut Chicago Bears fans down with, and it’s fair to say that maybe the entire NFC North should just go back to the inferior places they came from.
