Jalen Ramsey is expected to play tonight against the Tennessee Titans, according to Jags head coach Doug Marrone.

But what if he doesn’t?

What if Doug Marrone is bullshitting us? Is Ramsey on the trade block? Are the Eagles in the mix?

Wednesday morning, Adam “Schefty” Schefter went on the 97.5 the Fanatic morning show and said this:

I think the Eagles always check on everybody. And if there’s a player available, they will always test the market, see what the price is, and then obviously act accordingly. And there are a lot of trades they pull off.

This particular case, there’s a lot to consider. I’m sure there’s some level of interest in Jalen Ramsey. The question is are you going to compensate Jacksonville and compensate the player. The player is going to be an exorbitant price when he gets that new contract. And you can make the argument that he’s the fastest cornerback in football. The Jaguars have been asking for two first round draft picks. Now, they’re not gonna get two first round draft picks in the end, period. It’s just not gonna happen. They’re gonna get less than that. You can come up with a a package, a one and a four, a one and a five, a one and a player, you can figure out what it is and then it will be up to that team to decide whether they want to pull the trigger. You’re gonna ask me if the Eagles can get this done. They can do anything they wanna do. The question is do you want to pay that steep of a price.

Schefter went on to say that he feels like the “deal would have been done by now” if someone had risen to meet Jacksonville’s asking price. He also said he didn’t think involving Zach Ertz in a possible Ramsey trade would make sense.

Would you do this, however…

  • first round pick
  • fourth round pick
  • Dallas Goedert

…for Jalen Ramsey? I would. Absolutely. That was a scenario being tossed around by Ike Reese and Jon Marks on 94 WIP yesterday afternoon.

Schefter also tweeted this on Thursday morning:

Would be pretty crazy for Ramsey to play tonight and then suit up for the Eagles on Sunday, but I’d dig it.

Anyway, later on Wednesday, NFL Insider Jason LaCanfora said this:

Jalen Ramsey to the Chiefs? That would be something else. Maybe he finally helps Big Red get over the hump out there in KC.

Ramsey, FYI, is in the fourth year of his rookie deal, so he’s making $3.7 million this year and set to earn $13 million next season before becoming a free agent. The highest paid corners in the NFL based on AAV are currently Xavien Howard, Josh Norman, and the recently benched Trumaine Johnson, who earn about $15 million a year. The Eagles are projected to have three players earning more than that in 2020, which is the group of Fletcher Cox, Carson Wentz, and Alshon Jeffery.

Last word goes to Ian Rapoport:
