A new addition for NBC Sports Philly, just in time for hockey season.

Katie Emmer will join the network as a Flyers pregame and postgame host, coming to Philly from the great state of Minnesota, which means she knows a ton about hockey, right? Everybody up there knows hockey.

Anyway, here’s the press release:

PHILADELPHIA- (September 10, 2019) – NBC Sports Philadelphia today announced Katie Emmer is joining the network as a Flyers Pregame Live and Flyers Postgame Live host. She will make her hosting debut on Friday, October 4 when the Flyers open their season against the Chicago Blackhawks. Emmer will be joined by hockey analysts Chris Therien, Al Morganti and Colby Cohen throughout the season.

In addition to her hosting duties, Katie will contribute content across NBC Sports Philadelphia’s platforms.
“I’m excited to join NBC Sports Philadelphia to cover one of the best organizations in professional sports, the Flyers,” said Emmer.  “A first-class team in a first-class city with the best fans in America. I’m looking forward to the season and can’t wait to get started!”

“We are thrilled to welcome Katie to the NBC Sports Philadelphia family,” said NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Vice President of Content, Michelle Murray. “Flyers fans will embrace her for her vast hockey knowledge and her enthusiasm for the sport.”

Katie comes to NBC Sports Philadelphia from Fox Sports North where she covered the Minnesota Wild, Twins, Timberwolves, and Lynx, plus the University of Minnesota. In 2018, shewas honored with the Jim Nantz Award as the top collegiate sports broadcaster in the country and is the first woman in history to receive the Award. Shegraduated from St. Cloud University with a Degree in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Television Broadcast Journalism.

Interesting to note in there that “Katie will contribute content across NBC Sports Philadelphia’s platforms,” which would match what Serena Winters does for the Sixers, having basically absorbed the jobs of both Molly Sullivan and Jess Camerato last year. However, with Taryn Hatcher appearing on Flyers broadcasts from ice-level, it would seem like Emmer is more of an ice hockey Amy Fadool, if I’m reading the release correctly.

Here’s her broadcasting reel, which features an accent that isn’t nearly as thick as I thought it was gonna be:
