New York Giants Bench Eli Manning for Daniel Jones
It’s over.
Mercifully, the Eli Manning era has come to an end in New York New Jersey:
End of an era: The #Giants have named Daniel Jones as their starting QB. Eli Manning goes to the bench.

It had to happen.
Unfortunately, the Eagles won’t get to face Eli twice this year, barring an injury to Jones. The Birds are 16-4 against Manning over the last 20 meetings, which equates to a win percentage of 80. Jones looked pretty smooth in preseason action, so we’ll see what he’s got in week three, when the G-Men travel to Tampa Bay for a matchup with the 1-1 Bucs before returning home to host the 0-2 Redskins. Golden Tate comes off suspension in week five, so Jones will have a bit more to work with sooner rather than later.
RIP to the Eli Manning era. What an era it was.
