Angelo Cataldi was not a Gabe Kapler fan.

The ex-Phillies manager just didn’t get his players to hustle, didn’t hold them accountable, and just didn’t understand Philadelphia, unlike a Yankee fan who grew up in Rhode Island and now claims to speak for us.

Here’s the 94 WIP host’s childish reaction to Kapler’s firing:

Imagine behaving like that. Imagine reacting that way after two years of (contractually mandated) phone interviews with Kapler, who always handled himself with professionalism during those weekly calls.

The hilarious thing to me is that they did meet in person and did interact directly on various occasions, such as this joint appearance at Steven Singer Jewelers:

That photo makes me laugh. It’s like the photo of Hillary Clinton at Donald Trump’s wedding that was circulating back in 2016.

Of course Cataldi would have the gall to put his arm around the guy, then turn around and screech “our prayers are answered, thank you God!” when Kapler is fired. Mind you, this is the same Angelo Cataldi who cited Twitter polls created by his own show to bolster his side of an argument and openly admitted that he didn’t watch a 15-inning Phillies game because he was in bed before it even started.

If you want to juxtapose this ridiculousness with a similar scenario, think about the Sixers and Brett Brown’s weekly phone call with Marc Farzetta, Tra Thomas, and Bob Cooney on 97.5 the Fanatic. Imagine Farzetta shouting to the heavens in faux-jubilation if Brown got canned at the end of the season. You wouldn’t see it from that crew, because while morning radio intrinsically involves some level of acting and persona-weaving, most reasonable people can draw the line between carrying a shtick and just being a straight-up tool.
