I know it’s bad form to rip another team when your own team sucks. It’s the old adage about “throwing stones from glass houses,” but I’m throwing anyway. I’m throwing stones in the general direction of Cobb County, where the Atlanta Braves put up an all-timer stinker last night, allowing 10 runs in the first inning en route to a 13-1 loss in game five of the NLDS.

Believe it or not, that’s 10-straight postseason series losses for the Braves, who haven’t advanced to the next round since 2001. It’s so bonkers that you gotta see it presented in a visual format:

Let’s put this in perspective.

The last time the Braves won a playoff series (October of 2001), Alicia Keys topped the Billboard charts with her hit single, Fallin‘. One week later, Jennifer Lopez and Ja Rule’s I’m Real reclaimed the #1 spot. Carter Hart was three years old. Sudan was still one country. The Playstation 2 was the hottest video game console. Smart phones did not exist and Windows XP had just been released. Donovan McNabb was in his third season with the Eagles.

As Staind would say, “It’s Been a While” since the Braves have won a playoff series. Coincidentally, that song also came out in 2001:

Good morning.
