Last night Glen Macnow and Big Daddy Graham did a sold-out launch event at P.J. Whelihan’s in Cherry Hill, introducing the new and revised edition of The Great Book of Philadelphia Sports Lists.

The packed room included a who’s who of Philadelphia media and sports personalities and it was Big Daddy’s first public appearance since July, when he was hospitalized after suffering a spinal bleed that left him partially paralyzed. He’s doing rehab now and operating from a wheelchair after dealing with a months-long recovery process.

Rob Tornoe at the Inquirer was at P.J.’s last night and wrote this:

It’s certainly been a long four months for Graham and his family. It’s entirely possible the 66-year-old will spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair, though the sports talker holds out hope he’ll somehow regain the ability to walk.

Fortunately for Graham, he said he’ll be returning to WIP “soon,” though no official date has been planned. Due to his limited mobility, he plans on hosting his overnight show — a shift he’s handled at the station since 1996 — from a make-shift studio set up in his bedroom.

“It’s something I just have to do. I miss it too much not to,” Graham said. “Plus, believe me. I got a lot to say.”

Tornoe says Big Daddy will continue to write and make public appearances, which includes the “Two Funny Philly Guys” comedy show he’s been performing with Joe Conklin for years now.
