Discarded by the Eagles, L.J. Fort Gets a Contract Extension in Baltimore
Get a load of this:
The #Ravens have signed LB LJ Fort to a 2-year, surprise extension through 2021 that pays him $5.5M, source said. He gets $3.25M fully guaranteed at signing — all next year. He was cut 5 weeks ago by the #Eagles and still has $1.9M in guarantees this year. An early payday.

Good for him, honestly. He’s been playing well for the Ravens, who are 6-2 and on track to win the AFC North. They play a hybrid 3-4 defense, so it’s a different scheme and a better fit for Fort, who was strictly a special teams player for the Eagles. Plus, Fort played a bunch of seasons with the Steelers before coming to Philly, so he’s familiar with the division and rather easily slid right into a more important role in Baltimore.
But it makes you wonder how the Birds sign a guy, he never plays, he gets released, and then winds up on a better team with a contract extension. I, uh, don’t have an explanation for you.
