Eagles vs. Patriots on Sunday.

Not sure if you remember, but these teams last played in February of 2018. Tom Brady dropped a pass and Nick Foles caught one. It was a big deal at the time.

Brady went on Boston radio this week to talk about the matchup and explained that the bad taste from the Super Bowl loss continues to linger:

“You assume I’m over it? Come on now,” Brady said. “That’s a lot of mental scar tissue from that year. That was a tough game.

“In a lot of ways we learned from that year and we came back stronger the next year. We won the Super Bowl in ’18. I think everything is a matter of perspective and when you play in that game and you play great teams, you’re not going to win them all. This is not the Harlem Globetrotters vs. the Washington Generals. This is all about tough competition against the best teams. They deserved it that year, and now a couple years later we get a chance to play the organization again. We’ve had a lot changes, they’ve had a lot of changes. It’s totally different circumstances. Huge game for us. Big game for them. The better team is going to win.”

Both teams are coming off the bye week. The Pats lost to the Ravens while the Eagles beat the Bears at home.

According to NBC Sports Boston, Bill Belichick is 14-5 with New England after the bye week. Brady himself is 13-4, playing as a backup in 2000 and missing most of 2008 via injury. At one point, the Patriots had won eight straight games following the bye, which ended with a 2011 loss to Pittsburgh.

They did lose back-to-back games twice last season, so it happens. We’ll see if this weekend is another one of those instances.
