Seems like this is the stinger from hell.

Jordan Howard hasn’t played since the Bears game, which was on November 3rd, so we’ve reached the one-month mark for his injury absence.

The update is…. nothing. He’s still not cleared for contact, according to Doug Pederson, who spoke to reporters today at NovaCare and answered three questions with six total words:

Q. Has anything changed with RB Jordan Howard? (Zach Berman)

DOUG PEDERSON: No.

Q. So, he still hasn’t been cleared for contact? (Zach Berman)

DOUG PEDERSON: Correct.

Q. Is this something that could be a season-ending injury at this point with four games left? (Reuben Frank)

DOUG PEDERSON: I don’t believe so.

Well that sounds reassuring, “I don’t believe so.” Howard would have been a nice piece to use against Seattle (loss), New England (loss), and Miami (loss). In the last two games prior to the bye week, he had put up 178 yards on 42 carries with two touchdowns.

The head coach also talked about Mack Hollins, who was waived Tuesday and then claimed by the Dolphins, ironically:

Q. What went into the decision to release WR Mack Hollins? (Ed Kracz)

DOUG PEDERSON: I’ll tell you this. I know kind of where that line of questioning is headed. There is not a decision that is made with this roster that Howie and I don’t discuss first obviously, whether it’s practice squad, whether it’s active roster, whether it’s to bring a guy in for a workout or whatever it might be.

We also feel like some of our younger players, J.J., Greg, have earned or at least deserved an opportunity, and, again, you have to make some tough decisions. But it’s because of some discussions that we’ve had here in the past few weeks.

Q. Who makes that final decision? (Jeff McLane)

DOUG PEDERSON: Ultimately, it goes down Howie’s path, but again, we talk and we agree and we make those decisions together.

In hindsight, probably should have just kept Greg Ward to begin with, yeah? He had a better summer and preseason than Hollins anyway.

Carson Wentz actually had the more interesting Mack Hollins quote, so at the risk of burying the lede, here’s his take:

“I trust those guys upstairs making those decisions.”

Actually, it seems somewhat innocuous, now that I watch the clip again. Some people thought that was a slight directed at Hollins, but I don’t know. I don’t think it necessarily is; seems like he was just doing typical player speak in front of the media.

Anyway, New York Giants on Monday Night Football. Eli Manning. Get pumped.
