This had been rumored for some time because of the Joe Girardi connection, but now it looks like it’s going down, as Yung Joc once said:

Joel Sherman on it first:

And this guy says it’s a one-year deal with the 29-year-old short stop:

No dollar amounts out there yet, at least nothing that I see, but Crossing Broad baseball guy Bob is on board, saying:

Love the the signing. Love it even more on a one-year deal. Has big potential in a show-me year.

Gregorius played a couple of seasons with the Reds and Diamondbacks before being traded to the Yankees at the end of 2014. With his addition, you’re looking at an infield of Gregorius, Rhys Hoskins, Jean Segura at 2nd, and Scott Kingery at 3rd, I think, assuming they don’t go the trade route and turn their focus to finding another pitcher. They’re getting up against the tax now and we aren’t entirely sure how ownership feels about going over.

I’ll update this if anything new comes down, RE: the Gregorius dollar amount.
