Phillip Daniels, the defensive line coach, is out.

Seems like a strange one, doesn’t it? The Birds lost Malik Jackson and Hassan Ridgeway for the season, and Tim Jernigan and Derek Barnett missed games. But the d-line still played relatively well, especially down the stretch. Not good enough for the Eagles front office, I guess.

Daniels had been in Philly since 2016, starting as the defensive quality control and assistant d-line guy. He took over as the defensive line coach this season following Chris Wilson’s departure, so similar to Carson Walch, he only got one season in his new role.

Seems like an odd move to me, but listen, if the Eagles are seriously cleaning house and bringing in some new voices and new influences, then it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world, would it? Right now they have openings at WR coach, DB coach, d-line coach, and offensive coordinator.
