Iowa Sports Betting History

Following a 2018 U.S. Supreme Court decision to repeal the national ban on sports betting, Iowa became the 11th state to permit sports wagering. Retail sportsbooks based at several Iowa casinos have been accepting wagers since sports betting officially went legal on Aug. 15.
