Kyle Tanguay burst onto the local radar last year when he became the first male to join the Eagles cheer squad. If you were at a game last season, you probably saw him perform in between all of the dropped passes and injuries. If you did, you know the guy absolutely gets after it out there.

Tanguay, 21, appeared last night on ABC’s American Idol, performing “Mercy” by Sean Mendes. He crushed it:

Unsurprisingly, he was issued a golden ticket by Idol judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, advancing him to the next round of competition in Hollywood. Now, it would seem that he’s on the national radar:

Here’s Tanguay on the audition, courtesy of this article on the Eagles team website:

Truly, words can’t even describe what it felt like to receive the approval of all three judges and be given the golden ticket. I was jumping all around and I remember running up to the judges to thank them. It just meant the world to me that they saw my potential. In a way, it was a similar feeling to making the Eagles Cheerleaders last year, that feeling of satisfaction that comes after achieving something so monumental. It was just amazing, and I couldn’t stop smiling.

Luke Bryan is in:

I believe Tanguay’s performance calls for an update to the Kyles from Philadelphia power rankings:

1. Kyle Tanguay

3,895. Kyle Scott
