The highly anticipated 2020 NFL Draft will be a night of firsts, particularly for bettors in Indiana. Not only will this year’s draft be the first (and hopefully last) time the event will be held virtually, but it also marks the first time that bettors in the Hoosier State will be permitted to wager on it.

Legal sports betting officially launched in Indiana early last September and has since been proven to be one of the more bettor-friendly states to have gone live. Indiana will join New Jersey  and West Virginia as other states to offer legal real money prop betting on this year’s draft. New Jersey also offered action on the 2019 NFL Draft after launching legal online sports betting platforms in the summer of 2018.

Simply put, not every state that offers legal sports betting is offering action on the draft.

Each individual state has a gaming board in charge of regulating which events can and cannot be bet on, and, in some cases, there’s not always uniform approval across the board.

While all states that currently permit legal online sports betting allow action on professional sports leagues along with D-1 college football and basketball, only some allow for betting on other contests such as the NFL Draft and e-sports.

For instance, those located within Pennsylvania’s state lines won’t be able to wager on this year’s draft, while those across the Delaware River in New Jersey can place bets.

Earlier this year, Indiana gaming regulators permitted wagers on the 2020 Oscars, giving legal online sportsbooks the opportunity to take action on categories such as best actor, best actress, best support actor, best supporting actress, best director, and best film, among others. In effect, that decision signaled the state would take a more liberal approach to regulation and permit NFL Draft betting.

How to Bet on the NFL Draft in Indiana

There are plenty of ways to bet on the NFL Draft in the state of Indiana, so let’s run through all the need-to-know details on where and how to do it.

FanDuel Sportsbook

FanDuel Sportsbook has been one of Indiana’s top online sportsbooks since its launch thanks to a $500 risk-free first bet offer (get it here) and creative betting specials, which are once again on full display ahead of the NFL Draft.

New users at FanDuel Sportsbook can take advantage of two NFL Draft bonuses in addition to the risk-free bet offer.

Let’s start with the ridiculous as FanDuel is giving new users an opportunity to bet on Joe Burrow as the top overall pick at +200 odds. Seriously.

Max bets are capped at $25 but players would still stand to win $50 on what appears to be a forgone conclusion.

Just how insane is the value of Joe Burrow as the top pick at +200 odds?

Currently, Burrow is priced at -10000 to go first overall, meaning a bettor would have to wager $10,000 just to win $100. Needless to say, this offer presents absolutely awesome value.

Beyond Burrow, FanDuel is incentivizing both new and current players who bet on the NFL Draft by issuing bonuses in a tiered system:

  • Bet $25, Get $5
  • Bet $50, Get $10
  • Bet $100, Get $20
  • Bet $250, Get $250

FanDuel has compiled a comprehensive list of NFL Draft betting markets, including outcomes such as where certain players will land and when they will be drafted.
